Chapter 12 - Last Breath

Day 257 of the Loop

It's time.

I've spent countless loops preparing for this moment. While the kid kept killing, waiting for me to reveal my next move, I stayed quiet, watching, learning. They think they know everything about me—every trick, every shortcut, every move I'll make. They think they've seen it all.

But this time, I have something they won't expect.

I've been working in Gaster's old auxiliary lab, piecing together something he never got to finish: an artificial soul. Two halves, designed to mimic the power of a real soul. If I can split the kid's soul again, I can bind each half to an artificial one, separate them, and destroy the part that keeps the loop going.

This has to work. It's the only chance I've got.

Day 260 of the Loop

It's done.

I waited for the right moment, biding my time until they let their guard down. And when the moment came, I took it. I grabbed their soul and used a shortcut to get them to the lab.

The process was faster than I expected. Their soul split into two halves again. I bound each half to an artificial soul, but before I could stabilize them both, the green one disappeared, taking its half of the artificial soul with it.

The kid in the blue shirt fainted, but they're still alive. I carried them out of the lab, only to find the green one waiting for me outside.

They were holding a knife in one hand, and in the other... Papyrus's scarf. Their foot was crushing a pile of dust.

I didn't need to ask what had happened. I knew.

The Final Fight

The battle was unlike anything I've ever experienced.

I put everything I had into fighting the green one, but it wasn't enough. No matter how hard I tried, no matter how many shortcuts I used, they knew every move before I made it. It was like fighting someone who had lived through all the loops just like me. And when it was over, I lost.

But I didn't die.

For the first time, I felt something I hadn't in ages—determination. Real determination. Not the kind that comes from killing or leveling up, but something deeper. A will that came from me.

I stood up, took a deep breath, and stared them down. My soul changed from white to red, burning with a fire I didn't know I had. I felt stronger than I ever had before—not from Exp, not from Lv, but from my own will.

I didn't hold back. Not this time.

Bones the size of houses tore through Snowdin. The ground burned with red flames, and my magic eye flashed so brightly it felt like it would burst. The green one kept fighting, but I didn't let up. For once, they were the one on the defensive, and I gave everything I had.

But I pushed too far. The flames consuming me were my own magic, and I could feel my body melting under the strain. My strength was burning me alive, but I didn't stop. I couldn't stop. Not until they were done.

I forced them to retreat. I saw it in their eyes—they were reaching for their last option: a Reset.

I wasn't going to let them. I used blue bones to pin them in place, teleporting to grab their hand. But in the chaos, I made a mistake. I moved their hand toward the Reset button, and before I could stop it, they pressed it.

The button exploded.

The Shattering

The Reset didn't happen the way it usually does. This time, everything shattered.

A blinding white flash consumed everything—the Underground, the monsters, even the loops themselves. I felt my soul fuse with theirs, the two halves becoming one, and for a moment, it felt like I could see... everything.

The timelines, the resets, the countless lives we'd destroyed—it all collapsed into something unknown.

I don't know where I am now. I don't know if I'm alive, or if any of this even matters anymore. But I'll keep writing. As long as I still exist, I'll keep fighting to find a way to fix this.

Even if everything is gone, I can't give up.

I'm still determined.
