Back in the containment room, Y/n had resumed lounging on the plush pile, quietly humming to themselves as they toyed with a card from the game. Their boredom had only grown after being left alone, but the satisfaction of rattling Soundwave and Breakdown still lingered.
Y/n: So much for fun... I wonder if they'll come up with something interesting.
As the door slid open again, Y/n perked up. Soundwave entered, followed by Knockout and Breakdown, who both still looked a little tense. Y/n grinned, sitting up slightly.
Y/n: Ooh, back so soon? Miss me?
Soundwave ignored the teasing tone, stepping closer to the broken container glass. His visor flickered briefly as he studied Y/n, who tilted their head curiously.
Soundwave: Captivity: Not effective. New solution..... required
Y/n leans close to Soundwave, Knockout and Breakdown both stepping forward.
Y/n: Any ideas?
Y/n asks, their slimey body slithering around Soundwave as they inspect Knockout and Breakdown, their single red eye brightened as Knockout gave them a little fistbump. Soundwave calculates before coming up with a idea.
Soundwave's visor gleamed as he processed the interaction, but his cold demeanor shifted ever so slightly. His frame loomed over Y/n as their body slithered around him, a mechanical whirring sound coming from deep within his frame.
Soundwave: Statement: You underestimate.
His monotone voice had a slight edge to it as his tendrils slid out from his back, coiling in the air as if calculating their next move. He didn't miss how Y/n's gaze flickered with curiosity. Their form was fluid and unpredictable, much like their behavior.
Y/n grinned, leaning closer to Soundwave with a playful glint in their eye.
Y/n: Oh? Gonna show me just how wrong I am, big guy?
Soundwave's tendrils tightened their circling, the space between them growing smaller as the atmosphere thickened with a mix of tension and something more. Knockout and Breakdown exchanged looks, unsure whether to intervene or let this odd power dynamic play out.
Soundwave: Assertion: Discipline... required.
One of the tendrils brushed lightly against Y/n's side, cold and calculated, sending a chill through their strange form. The faintest flicker of amusement danced across Soundwave's visor.
Y/n's playful grin didn't falter, though their posture shifted slightly as they returned the energy with a smirk.
Y/n: Discipline, huh? You really think you can handle me?
Soundwave's tendrils tightened their grip ever so slightly, hovering on the edge of control, his presence overwhelming. He leaned in closer, his unreadable visor only inches from Y/n's face, his monotone voice dropping even lower.
Soundwave: Confidence: Admirable. But misplaced. You must behave.
The air was heavy with unspoken tension, both of them seemingly testing the boundaries of control. Knockout finally cleared his throat, breaking the intense moment.
Knockout: Ahem. As much as I enjoy a good... showdown, perhaps we should keep this professional?
Breakdown shifted uncomfortably but nodded in agreement, his tension still palpable. Y/n chuckled, finally easing back just slightly, though their playful demeanor remained intact.
Y/n: Fine, fine. But don't think this is over, Soundwave. I'll be waiting for the next... lesson.
Soundwave remained stoic, though the faintest flicker of something unreadable crossed his visor. With one final glance, he turned and left the room, his tendrils retracting, leaving Y/n with a lingering sense of challenge. Y/n followed after him, assuming now they could explore the ship.
Y/n: Come on Soundwave. I'm sorry I got you guys in trouble.... I'm just so bored in that container. Please give me something to do! A mission, a task, a game! Anything please!!!!
Soundwave paused, his visor flickering as new information flashed across his internal systems. The moment stretched long and tense, before he turned to face Y/n once more. This time, there was a slight urgency in his movements. Knockout and Breakdown exchanged a curious glance, sensing something had changed.
Soundwave: Directive: Recover. Location: Earth. Dreadwing: Crashed.
The cold, calculated words hung in the air as Y/n's expression shifted, their excitement bubbling up at the thought of a real mission.
Y/n: Dreadwing, is he a soldier or something? He sounds cool that's for sure.
Knockout leaned against the wall, arms crossed, watching the interaction with mild interest.
Knockout: Seems he crashed on Earth. Probably a malfunction in his stasis pod. He's strong, but if something got to him before we do… Could be a problem.
Breakdown grunted, clearly uneasy with the thought.
Breakdown: Dreadwing won't take kindly to needing rescue. He's… prideful, to say the least.
Y/n's grin widened, eye glowing with mischief.
Y/n: Oh, I like him already. So, I go down, find him, and bring him back. Easy enough.
Soundwave's tendrils shifted slightly, projecting a hologram of Earth with the location of Dreadwing's crash site flashing on the map. It was a remote region, forested and isolated, which would minimize human interference but increase the chances of autobots showing.
Soundwave: Objective: Extraction. Priority: High.
Y/n stretched, their form slithering around with eager energy, clearly ready for the challenge.
Y/n: You're really gonna let me go down there? Free? This is gonna be fun!
Knockout raised an eyebrow.
Knockout: Free? Not quite. You'll still be under Soundwave's watchful eye. No wandering off, no games, just get Dreadwing and return.
Breakdown: grumbling If Dreadwing's in one of his moods, it's not going to be that easy. You better be ready for a fight.
Y/n waved a hand dismissively, their confidence not faltering.
Y/n: Don't worry, big guy, I've got this. Besides, how bad can Dreadwing really be?
Soundwave stepped forward, his tendrils swirling slightly as if to emphasize the seriousness of the mission. His visor gleamed as he gave one final instruction.
Soundwave: Failure: Not tolerated. Proceed.
Y/n shot him a playful salute, their body already shifting toward the door.
Y/n: Alright, alright! Don't get your wires crossed, Soundwave. I'll make sure we bring your big bad soldier back safe and sound.
Breakdown sighed heavily as he and Knockout followed Y/n out of the room, heading toward the launch bay.
Breakdown: I've got a bad feeling about this...
Knockout smirked, clearly more amused than concerned.
Knockout: Oh, don't worry. If things go sideways, at least it'll be entertaining.
Y/n only chuckled, already imagining the chaos and fun to come as they prepared to head down to Earth. The prospect of meeting Dreadwing was exhilarating, and they could hardly wait to see what trouble they'd stir up on this mission.
Knockout: So your going behind Megatron's back for this, you know he would hate for Y/n to leave the ship.
Soundwave: Silence not necessary: But insisted.
Breakdown: HAH!
