"How I wish human hearts had a glass protector, just like a phone. We would always be shielded even after we fell; we wouldn't ever break," Hazel spoke, her eyes devoid of emotion.
Wren tightened her grip, as if wanting to merge with Hazel. At that moment, she didn't care about being out of character or showing her intentions. She was hugging Hazel from behind and couldn't see her expression.
"I'm not heartbroken; I'm just disappointed. Why am I such a loser? I thought if I just did everything with all my heart, nothing would go wrong. So why...? Why is this happening to me?"
Hazel felt a warm liquid flow down her reddened cheeks. Suffocation tightened her chest up to her throat, but the warmth from behind spread through her body, warming not only her skin but her soul as well.
