Chapter 83: The Beginning of Everything
Blood is the currency of the soul. An exchange of blood is an exchange of souls.
Then there's the power of charm: controlling others, effective only on ordinary people.
This ability is rather useless for Chang Wei, akin to a vampire's constitution—where one wouldn't die unless the heart is destroyed and can regenerate quickly. But for Chang Wei, even destroying his heart doesn't kill him, and he can regenerate rapidly. It's essentially true "blood-locking."
Resurrection: The ability to consume the lives of others, enabling oneself to resurrect after death. The number of lives consumed determines how many times resurrection is possible.
Shape-shifting: The ability to freely change one's body and appearance.
He can transform his limbs into black appendages that extend to attack enemies. When parachuting onto an aircraft carrier, after his fighter jet was shot down by a magic marksman, he transformed into the shape of a plane. On the carrier, he turned into a pitch-black tentacle monster during battle. He can also mimic the appearance of others.
Additionally, he can become a shadow to pass through walls, a highly practical ability.
However, Chang Wei does not possess Alucard's "Barlowe's Hellhound," as it is part of Alucard's apostle familiars. Chang Wei doesn't yet have his own apostles or familiars.
Bat Transformation: He can turn his body into countless bats, allowing him to fly.
Supernatural Phenomena: The ability to walk on vertical walls, ignoring gravity.
River of Death: When released, the River of Death can summon all the absorbed dead to fight. Without releasing it, the dead cannot be summoned.
However, perhaps due to the difference between Chang Wei being chosen and Alucard actively choosing, Chang Wei's River of Death underwent a change.
He can actively summon some of the dead from the River of Death to fight for him without fully releasing it. He can also manipulate the River of Death like Seras in the original storyline when fighting the Werewolf Captain, creating various blades and spikes.
Of course, this ability is rather flashy and useless for Chang Wei. At best, it's useful for showing off. In actual combat, it's just a parade of fancy tricks.
"Not bad. I thought apostles and familiars had to be beasts, but it turns out people can work too."
After some research, Chang Wei's gaze involuntarily fell on the Werewolf Captain.
A familiar? Recruiting the Werewolf Captain?
This way, he could also take him along when leaving the Hellsing world.
But after thinking it over, Chang Wei realized his River of Death could summon a portion of the dead to fight. He didn't really need apostles or familiars.
For Chang Wei, becoming the Vampire Progenitor was merely for the concept of immortality. He didn't care much for the other vampire abilities.

It was rumored that Chang Wei made a strong entrance when Alucard and Father Anderson met, leaving the chubby Major increasingly baffled by Chang Wei's motives.
This man's behavior, goals, and thought process were completely incomprehensible.
Of course, given time, the chubby Major was confident he could analyze and understand Chang Wei. But for now, time was not on his side.
The plan he had prepared for years could not simply be halted. Chang Wei's timing was too perfect—neither too early nor too late. If he'd come earlier, the Major could have stopped, as the engine hadn't fully started. If he'd come later, the Major wouldn't have to worry about this unexpected variable.
Now, however, the Major was stuck in a dilemma.
Afterward, Chang Wei seemed to disappear. In reality, he was planning to train Seras. There's no better training than facing pure-blooded vampires.
Thus, when the chubby Major dispatched the Vampire Brothers to attack the Round Table meeting, Chang Wei sent Seras.
"Mr. Chang Wei, can I really do this?"
Seras hesitated. Although she had been tormented and toughened by the Werewolf Captain, she had never engaged in actual killing. Shooting the vampire priest back then was just her survival instincts kicking in. Looking back, the experience was entirely different. Now, before even starting, her thoughts began to spiral.
"Don't overthink it. Just kill all the vampires and ghouls."
Chang Wei placed a hand on her head, ruffling her hair vigorously as he spoke.
"Thinking too much affects your performance. True combat leaves no time for idle thoughts. It's all about instinct and split-second decisions," he explained.
For some reason, Seras felt Chang Wei carried a sense of profound stories behind him.
"I understand," Seras said, mustering her courage. She didn't want to disappoint Chang Wei.
The Werewolf Captain turned his head to glance at Seras.
"Mr. Bluff?" Seras was startled by his motion.
"He's telling you to be careful," Chang Wei said with a smile.
"Ah, I understand. Thank you, Mr. Bluff," Seras replied, relieved, thinking the Werewolf Captain was about to attack her.
The Werewolf Captain: (._.)
"No, I'm not treating her like a daughter," he muttered internally.
"I said no, and stop looking down on me!" Chang Wei retorted irritably.
What did it mean for the Werewolf Captain to imply he saw Seras as his daughter? She might even be older than him!
After all, he was just a young high school graduate. He hadn't even attended college before being whisked away to this alternate world.
The Werewolf Captain didn't continue "speaking."

Integra, noticing anomalies from the recent vampire incidents, convened a Round Table meeting with Britain's upper echelon. However, the meeting was interrupted by an attack from a ghoul unit.
A bus stopped at the gate. When the guards tried to warn the driver that parking there wasn't allowed, their heads were immediately decapitated.
The bus doors opened, and heavily armed "people" in anti-terrorist gear, complete with riot shields, descended.
These were ghouls—adjusted to use firearms to a basic degree but still frail. Ordinary humans could eliminate them if they overcame their fear.
The problem was that the Hellsing organization had grown too comfortable under its protections.
Decades had passed—a long time by human standards—enough to erode Hellsing's elite human force.
In the past, they had young Walter and Alucard. Even when Walter aged, Alucard stepped in, ensuring Hellsing's personnel only needed to handle cleanup.
With little real combat experience, their current forces paled in comparison to the past.
