Chapter 1 - Chapter 1. Deployment

[Divine's POV]

It was the day we were deployed to our chosen company to experience a real-life job, serving as a guide for us in choosing our future careers. Our first day was not exactly fun, but it was exciting because the children were so talkative and energetic when I arrived.

Then, my mentor told me to introduce myself. Taking a deep breath, I stepped to the front, my palms slightly sweaty. With a nervous but excited smile, I said, "Hi, my name is Divine K. Sanchez, and you can call me Miss Divine." My voice wavered at first, but as I saw their bright, curious faces watching me, a warm sense of belonging settled in, and my confidence grew.

But I still felt a bit nervous, though I liked it the way it was. At 10 a.m., my mentor said in a very low voice, "Miss Divine, can you check these papers?" I nodded as I reached for the papers and finished them in a flash. Every time they called out, "Miss Divine, Miss Divine..." it seemed to be everywhere.

Later, my mentor said in a kind tone, "Miss Divine, can you teach Hanz to read?" I kindly agreed and did so.

The next morning, I still got up at 5 a.m. to do my hair, get dressed, eat, and walk 15 minutes to school, but it was worth the hustle. Today is my second day at my immersion site. I noticed a girl from another school, her hair was tied in a bun but wasn't as neatly kept as ours. She had bangs and wore glasses that made her look stunning from every angle.

I turned to my classmate and whispered, "Hey, look at her. I wish they would allow us to wear our hair down like hers." My voice was barely audible.

Curious, I asked, "Shila, what's the name of their school again?" Shila replied with certainty, "They're from Dover, I think. Ahh, yes, Dover."

I nodded and repeated, "Ahh, okay, so they're from Dover."

Just then, the teacher who deployed them called out in a commanding voice, "Line up!"

Shandy said loudly, "You can go now, we're done taking pictures anyway."

We proceeded to our respective classrooms. I sat for a while, and then the teacher who had just assigned us not long ago (not long ago charr hehe) asked, "Who wants to be temporarily assigned here?"

Someone said in a firm voice, "I volunteer." The students were so happy that they jumped in excitement.

A girl entered the classroom, and I was shook to see that the girl I saw earlier was now standing in front of me. She introduced herself, "Hi everyone, my name is Beverly, Miss Beverly." Then she came closer to my desk, so I moved aside with my bag, and she sat next to me. I was stunned for a moment.

My mentor asked me in a soft voice, "Miss Divine, do you know how to photocopy?"

I paused for a second and asked, barely audibly, "Do you know how to do it…?"

She replied in a low voice, "Hmm, yeah, I know."

I asked again, "Can you do it, if you're fine with it?"

She replied, "Yeah, I'm fine," and got up as my mentor began explaining how to do it.

Later she finished the thing that my mentor ask her to do and sit back to her chair
