Itachi nodded and accepted the ball. He stood still for a moment, calculating his throw. Without much effort, he tossed it high into the air. The ball sailed smoothly, landing about 68 meters away.
Aizawa glanced at the meter reading. "68 meters. Not bad," he said flatly. "Now, throw it using your quirk."
Itachi picked up the ball again, this time considering his options. Should I use Susanoo? he thought, turning his head slightly to see the eyes of his classmates on him, watching in anticipation. He decided against it, thinking it wasn't the right moment to reveal his full power.
Activating his Sharingan, he focused and threw the ball again. This time, it shot through the air much further, landing around 100 meters away.
Aizawa watched closely, his expression unreadable, but his thoughts were sharp. He's holding back. I can tell.
The teacher narrowed his eyes slightly before speaking again. "Yaoyorozu," he called out, his voice firm. "Don't hold back. Show us everything."
The class, who had been amazed by the previous throw, widened their eyes in shock. Keigo smirked, already knowing what Itachi was capable of.
Itachi hesitated for a moment. How did he know? he wondered, but quickly composed himself. Aizawa handed him the ball once more, his gaze expectant. "Now… don't hold back."
With a nod, Itachi activated his Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan. The air around him seemed to thicken with an intense, almost otherworldly energy. The ground beneath him cracked slightly as the ribcage of his Susanoo began to form, surrounding him in a faint aura of power. A massive skeletal arm extended from the ribcage, gripping the ball in its hand.
The class stood frozen in awe and disbelief. They had never seen anything like it.
Even Aizawa, who had maintained his stoic demeanor throughout the day, found himself intrigued. What kind of power is this? he thought.
With a calm, controlled movement, Itachi threw the ball once more. The sheer force of the Susanoo's arm sent it soaring far beyond what anyone could have expected. The ball vanished into the horizon, leaving a long trail behind it before disappearing from sight entirely.
The class was stunned, their jaws hanging open as they tried to process what they had just witnessed. Aizawa glanced at the meter reading which was 3 km, his thoughts racing. He really was holding back…
Keigo, still smirking, crossed his arms with pride. "That's my best friend for you."
Itachi deactivated the Susanoo and stepped back in line, unfazed by the shocked reactions around him. Inside, however, he felt a quiet satisfaction, knowing that he had just demonstrated a fraction of what he was capable of.
Aizawa remained silent for a moment, gathering his thoughts as he observed the class. Then, he turned back to them, his face as emotionless as ever. "Alright," he began, regaining his composure. "That demonstration was just the beginning. There are other tests you'll face today, and we'll start with the first one—a race. You'll be competing against each other, and your quirks are allowed."
The class nodded in understanding, though there was a mix of confidence and nervousness in their eyes. Yu Takeyama, with her usual boldness, crossed her arms and said, "This should be easy."
Aizawa's eyes narrowed slightly, and a faint smirk tugged at the corner of his lips. "You think it's easy, huh? Well, here's the catch. If I'm not impressed by your performance…" He paused, letting the tension build. "You'll be eliminated."
The words hung in the air like a thunderclap. The students' eyes widened in shock, their expressions quickly turning from confident to anxious.
Anan Kurose, the girl with the Black Hole quirk, stepped forward, a look of disbelief on her face. "You can't do that, sir. That's unfair."
Aizawa's gaze darkened, and he spoke in a calm, yet piercing tone. "Unfair?" His voice was low, but it cut through the silence like a blade. "The world isn't fair. It never has been, and it never will be. We train to protect, to uphold justice, but the truth is, villains don't care about right or wrong. They attack without warning, without reason, and sometimes… they win. That's the reality we face. But even in an unfair world, we still fight. Because giving up means letting them decide our fate. And that's something I refuse to accept."
The weight of Aizawa's words settled over the class, and for a moment, no one spoke. The harsh reality he presented seemed to resonate with them on a deeper level.
Itachi, who had been standing quietly, broke the silence. "He's right." His voice was calm, yet filled with conviction, drawing the attention of everyone around him. They all turned to look at him, intrigued by his sudden input.
"It's true," Itachi continued, his expression unreadable. "The world's cruelty is a reflection of human nature—hatred, fear, the endless cycle of conflict. We strive for peace, but it often comes at a cost, and sometimes that cost feels unbearable. Yet, in the face of this unfairness, we find our purpose. It's not the fairness of the world that matters; it's the choices we make despite it. Even if we can't change the world completely, our actions can still ripple through it."
His words, though soft, held an undeniable weight. The class stared at him in awe, some nodding slowly, understanding the depth behind his philosophy. Aizawa, though usually unexpressive, raised an eyebrow slightly, impressed. This kid… he thought to himself, recognizing the wisdom beyond Itachi's years.
"You're right," Aizawa said aloud, his tone a little softer than before. "And that's exactly why all of you are here at U.A. High School. To face the reality of the world head-on."
With that, he stepped back, his voice returning to its usual tone of authority. "Now, everyone gets to the starting line. You have ten minutes to prove yourselves."
The class nodded, a newfound sense of determination settling over them as they made their way to the starting line. As they walked, Keigo sidled up to Itachi with a teasing grin. "Bro, you really need to stop reading those philosophical books," he joked, nudging him slightly. "You're starting to sound like an old man."
