Chapter 409 - Chapter 409: Fear of Loss

The Abyss was completely destroyed, and the entire Blood God Legion celebrated for a whole week.

After being mentally tense for so long, everyone finally relaxed, and Zhang Huanyun gave the entire army a week-long holiday.

During this time, as long as one didn't leave the Blood God Legion, they could do whatever they wanted.

Feng'er ran quickly, and even though she wasn't wearing a military uniform, she didn't attract much attention.

After all, many soldiers in the Blood God Legion weren't in uniform anymore—especially the female soldiers.

Soon, Feng'er caught up with Wujin.

"Feng'er, didn't I tell you to stay with Xia Yi? Why did you come back?" Wujin asked curiously when he saw her.

"It was Master who told me to come find you," Feng'er replied, blushing.

"Find me? For what?" Wujin sighed softly and said in a serious tone, "Didn't I tell you? Following Xia Yi will take you farther. For beings like you, born of Heaven and Earth, it's a rare opportunity to be with him. I even thickened my skin to send you to him—for your own good. Why can't you understand? Why did you come back!"

"I already told you, it was Master who told me to come find you. Why don't you believe me?" Feng'er snorted coldly, ignored him, and ran ahead quickly.

"Forget it." Wujin shook his head helplessly and followed.

He had no interest at all in the Blood God Legion's revelry. After passing through the crowd, he went straight back to his dorm alone.

But what he never expected was that the moment he entered, he was pinned to the bed by a surge of powerful soul power.

"Feng'er, what… what are you doing?" Wujin's face instantly changed.

"Master said that we must continue the bloodline of the Endless Mountain Range. This must be done today," Feng'er said, her face flushed red.

"You… Let me go! Don't listen to his nonsense," Wujin said sternly, his face dark.

"I won't let go. You're the one who told me to obey Master." With red lips and a determined look, Feng'er directly pounced on him.

"No! Don't… Xia Yi, I'm going to kill you!"

Faced with Feng'er's hundred-thousand-year cultivation, Wujin struggled in vain and finally let out a furious roar of frustration.

...

"Hahaha! What a wonderful day!" Not far from Wujin's dorm, Xia Yi—who had been secretly watching—couldn't help but burst into laughter again.

"You really love playing pranks," a sudden voice rang out—Leng Yaozhu's.

"What prank? I call it doing a good deed!" Xia Yi chuckled.

"Well, if there weren't already some feelings between them, Feng'er wouldn't have agreed so easily," Leng Yaozhu nodded, then asked seriously, "What do you think the Federation will do with the Blood God Legion?"

"No matter what, the Abyss is destroyed. The Blood God Legion deserves a great reward," Xia Yi said.

"And after the reward?" Leng Yaozhu pressed.

The Blood God Legion was founded to guard the Abyssal Passage.

Now that the Abyss was gone, their mission was complete.

But as the most powerful legion on the continent—and the only one composed entirely of soul masters—wherever they were assigned would disrupt the existing balance.

The key issue was that the Blood God Legion didn't fully belong to the Sun-Moon Federation.

A large portion of the Legion was made up of members from Shrek Academy and the Spirit Transferring Pagoda.

Previously, when the threat of the Abyss still loomed, these people were willing to focus on fighting the Abyss.

But now, with that threat gone—

Would these people really stay quietly in the army and behave?

The Spirit Transferring Pagoda might be fine, since it was at its peak now, and likely wouldn't stir trouble on its own.

The real concern was the portion of the Blood God Legion that belonged to Shrek Academy.

No one could guarantee that, once they left the Endless Mountain Range, they wouldn't cause unrest.

So, how to place the Blood God Legion had become a difficult problem.

"After the reward, the Federation will probably assign them new tasks to keep them too busy to make trouble," Xia Yi said thoughtfully.

"But now that the continent is unified, what tasks could the Federation possibly have that require the Blood God Legion?" Leng Yaozhu asked, curious.

"Yaozhu-jie, you want some merit? I'll give you some," Xia Yi grinned, grabbing her hand.

"Give? You mean the Holy Spirit Cult?" Leng Yaozhu immediately caught on. Now that the continent was unified, the only lingering problem for the Federation was the Holy Spirit Cult.

Unlike the Abyssal Plane, the Holy Spirit Cult had always operated in the shadows, hiding and running.

Even with full military deployment, it wouldn't be easy to catch them.

Without Xia Yi—who was the cult leader's husband—the Federation might never find their headquarters.

"Hehe, when the time comes, aside from the cult leader, you can decide whether the rest live or die," Xia Yi chuckled.

After the destruction of Shrek Academy and Tang Sect Headquarters, Xia Yi had realized that Ghost Emperor and Nether Emperor were slowly breaking free of the Devil Emperor's control.

So why not let Leng Yaozhu deal with them?

After all, the Holy Spirit Cult was no longer useful to the Devil Emperor.

"Alright." Leng Yaozhu didn't refuse. The Holy Spirit Cult had endangered the Douluo Continent for many years—it was indeed time to eliminate them.

"I'm going to find Zhang Huanyun to discuss some matters. You go find my sister—I'll come back tonight," Leng Yaozhu said.

"What matters?" Xia Yi asked curiously.

"Just some trivial stuff about the Blood God Legion," Leng Yaozhu sighed. "Right now, while the army has nothing to do, we're the ones stuck with a mountain of work."

"Alright, go handle it," Xia Yi nodded.

"Mm." Leng Yaozhu nodded too, but just as she was about to leave, she suddenly turned around and threw herself into Xia Yi's arms.

"Xia Yi!"

"What's wrong, Yaozhu-jie?" Xia Yi gently held her and asked.

"Xia Yi, promise me—if the day ever comes when we truly have to be enemies, tell me only at the very last moment, so we can have a little more time together," Leng Yaozhu said tearfully, holding him tightly.

"Don't say such things, okay? Zhu'er, how could we ever be enemies? We're family—we'll never be on opposite sides. Don't overthink it. Trust me," Xia Yi said, comforting her.

"But… I'm afraid you won't be able to control the Soul Beast Empress. I fear she'll lead the soul beasts to take revenge on humanity. If that happens, how hard it'll be for you caught in between," Leng Yaozhu said, eyes red.

"Don't worry—I can handle it. Don't you know me? To me, none of these things are real problems," Xia Yi said gently.

He knew exactly what Leng Yaozhu was worried about.

Today had been overwhelming for her. Even someone as strong as her couldn't help but feel insecure.

Xia Yi understood—Leng Yaozhu acted like this because she cared deeply for him.

But since Gu Yue didn't want to reveal her identity, Xia Yi couldn't tell Leng Yaozhu that she was the Soul Beast Empress. All he could do was comfort her as best as he could.
