"Nawaki, keep it up! I believe you can do it!"
Jiraiya walked into the room with a smile, addressing Senju Nawaki warmly.
"Jiraiya, you're here!"
Seeing Jiraiya, Nawaki's face lit up with joy. Every time Jiraiya visited, he would guide Nawaki in his training. At this point, Jiraiya was practically half a teacher to him.
After each session with Jiraiya, Nawaki always felt his skills improve significantly. He deeply admired Jiraiya.
"How did you end up with that injury?" Jiraiya lightly smacked Nawaki on the head and asked.
"I was practicing my reflexes and accidentally got hit by a shuriken," Nawaki replied, scratching his head sheepishly.
"Nawaki, even if you want to get stronger, you have to pace yourself. Throwing so many shuriken into the mechanism at once is reckless. You can't be so careless in the future!"
Tsunade's tone was serious. She doted on her younger brother and couldn't bear to see him get hurt.
"Sister, to get stronger, I have to push my limits. If I throw fewer shuriken, how can I uncover my potential? Don't worry, I'll be more careful and avoid getting hurt next time."
Nawaki's response was firm, his determination evident.
"As expected of my brother-in-law! You've got guts!" Jiraiya said with admiration.
"Jiraiya, could you guide me in my training later?" Nawaki asked eagerly.
Though Nawaki hadn't inherited Hashirama's Wood Release, he showed remarkable talent with fire and earth chakra natures. Jiraiya, being skilled in both fire and earth-style techniques, found it easy to mentor him. After all, Jiraiya had acquired extensive knowledge of these techniques through his system sign-ins.
"Of course, I can. But let me chat with your sister first. You head to the training ground and wait for me," Jiraiya said, patting Nawaki on the head.
"Jiraiya, women will only slow down our training! Let's just steer clear of them!" Nawaki teased with a grin.
"What did you just say, brat?!"
Tsunade's furious roar filled the room.
"I didn't say anything! I'll head out now!"
Nawaki shivered and bolted from the room, narrowly avoiding another trip to the hospital.
After Nawaki left, Tsunade closed the door and drew the curtains. She knew Jiraiya's personality well and figured he wouldn't waste an opportunity like this. Besides, it had been a long time since they'd seen each other, and she didn't mind his touchy nature.
"You really know me," Jiraiya said with a grin, pulling Tsunade into his arms.
"What kind of mission had you out for so long this time?" Tsunade asked, her cheeks slightly flushed.
"I went to the Land of Rain to deal with a group of rogue shinobi from the Land of Wind," Jiraiya explained.
"I heard from Sensei that you've been promoted to jonin. I got you a gift to celebrate."
Jiraiya pulled out a storage scroll.
Tsunade injected chakra into the scroll, summoning a pair of gloves.
"These gloves are specially designed for you. They enhance your strength and allow you to use Wind Release to grab enemies from a distance," Jiraiya explained.
Hearing this, Tsunade's eyes lit up. The gloves were perfect for her.
She slipped them on and marveled at the material.
"Incredible… They fit perfectly," she said, amazed at how the gloves adjusted to her hands.
"These must have been hard to acquire. If they were expensive, I can't accept them," she said, her tone serious despite her appreciation.
"Don't worry about it. These gloves didn't cost me anything significant. Just say they're a Senju family heirloom if anyone asks," Jiraiya reassured her.
Tsunade smiled, touched by his thoughtfulness.
"I also brought you two A-rank jutsu scrolls. They're well-suited to your abilities," Jiraiya said, handing her the scrolls.
Tsunade's smile grew even brighter.
"Oh, and one more thing. Sensei has assigned you to the Anbu and made you a squad captain. Your team will operate under my division. From now on, we'll be working together on missions," Jiraiya announced, handing her the official appointment document.
Tsunade was overjoyed by the news. But before they could discuss it further, Jiraiya pulled her close, and the two shared a passionate kiss.
Afterward, Jiraiya made his way to the training ground to help Nawaki with his training.
Meanwhile, in the Senju clan's meeting room, Isamu addressed the elder.
"Tsunade's appointment as an Anbu squad captain is surely thanks to Jiraiya's influence. He's progressed far faster than we expected. Should we consider showing him more goodwill?"
"Allow him access to some of the clan's secret techniques. As for the sealing jutsu I've mastered, I'll select a few to share with him," the elder replied thoughtfully.
Just then, Uzumaki Mito entered the room.
"Mito-sama, what brings you here?" Isamu immediately stood to greet her.
"This body of mine won't hold out much longer. If I don't move around while I can, I won't have another chance. Tomorrow, inform the village to start searching for a new jinchūriki. My time is running out," Mito said calmly.
As the current jinchūriki of the Nine-Tails, Mito had grown too old to maintain the seal for much longer.
