Chapter 46 - The Collision

Angelica followed my gaze and let out a low whistle. "He's massive," she said, a hint of concern in her voice. "You sure you can take him?" I shot Angelica a cocky smirk, my confidence unshakable. "Oh, I can handle him," I said, cracking my knuckles. "I've taken on bigger and tougher opponents than that before."Angelica rolled her eyes, knowing by now that trying to talk me out of a fight was a futile endeavor. "Alright, alright, I get it," she said, shaking her head. "You're unstoppable, etc etc. Just promise me you'll be careful, okay?"

I nodded, my smirk softening into a small smile. "Don't worry, I'll be fine," I assured her. "I just need to make sure I don't accidentally knock him out too quickly. Wouldn't want to disappoint the audience, now would we?"

Angelica couldn't help but chuckle at my comment. "You and your need for a good show," she said, shaking her head in amusement. "Just try not to kill the guy, okay?"

I shot her a grin. "No promises," I said, my tone teasing. "But I'll do my best not to cause any permanent damage."

I made my way to the arena as the announcer called my name, the crowd cheering and shouting my name in excitement. As I walked past Angelica, I shot her a cocky wink, as if to say "watch this."

Angelica rolled her eyes, both amused and exasperated by my showmanship. "God, you're such a drama queen," she muttered under her breath, unable to keep a small smile from her lips.

I let out a bark of laughter, hearing her comment. "Hey, if you've got it, flaunt it," I said, striking a dramatic pose. "Besides, the crowd loves it."

I walked into the arena, my confidence and swagger on full display. The crowd cheered and roared, their anticipation building as they waited for the fight to begin. My opponent, the giant beefy man, stood across from me, his muscles rippling as he eyed me with a fierce and determined gaze.

I took a moment to size him up, my eyes roaming over his massive frame. He was easily twice my size, but I wasn't intimidated. In fact, the challenge only served to excite me.

I started asking him. Before we begin my I ask for your name.

The giant man looked at me, surprised by my request. He had expected me to go straight for the fight, not bother with pleasantries. But to my surprise, he responded with a gruff but respectful voice.

"Name's Big John," he said, his deep voice booming through the arena.

I nodded, acknowledging his name with a slight dip of my head. "Big John, huh? Nice to meet you," I replied, my tone casual yet respectful.

I'm Mona pleasure to meet you, I said.

The giant man, Big John, regarded me with a mix of curiosity and wariness. He had clearly underestimated me, thinking I would be intimidated by his size and strength. But my casual demeanor seemed to throw him off.

"Mona, eh?" he said, his gruff voice tinged with surprise. "That's a pretty name for someone as bold as you."

I let out a bark of laughter, amused by his comment. "Thanks, I guess," I replied. "Though I'd take 'bold' over 'delusional' any day."

I rolled my shoulders, loosening up and feeling my muscles tingle with anticipation. I took a deep breath and settled into a fighting stance, my body coiled and ready for action.

I spoke up, my voice carrying through the arena as I addressed Big John. "You ready to dance this dance?" I said, my tone cocky and confident. The crowd cheered and roared, their excitement palpable. Big John simply grunted in response, his eyes narrowing in determination.

He clenched his fists, his massive hands looking like they could crush my skull in one blow. But I didn't flinch, my confident smile never faltering. "Come on, big boy," I taunted, my voice challenging. "Let's see what you've got."

As soon as the bell rang, signalling the start of the fight, Big John lunged at me with surprising speed for his size. I nimbly dodged out of the way, his massive fist just missing my head by inches.

I danced around him, my movements quick and precise. Big John tried to keep up with me, but his size and weight were starting to tell. He was tiring out quickly, while I was still fresh and full of energy. I darted in and out, slipping past his guard and landing quick, precise jabs to his abdomen and chest. But Big John was more durable than he looked, and he shook off my blows with a snarl. He tried to grab me, but I stayed just out of his reach, my speed and agility keeping me safe for now.

I suddenly dashed backwards, creating some distance between me and Big John. I took a deep breath and exhaled, letting out a blast of icy-cold air from my mouth. The blast of air hit Big John square in the chest, freezing him in place for a moment.

I was surprised to see that Big John didn't seem to be affected much by my icy breath. He broke out of the ice almost immediately, his massive frame cracking through the frozen layer without much effort. I took a step back, realizing that he was tougher than I had thought.

Big John let out a deep chuckle, his eyes fixed on me. "You're not so tough, are you?" he taunted, his voice booming. The crowd roared in agreement, clearly rooting for the giant man. But I kept my cool, my expression betraying nothing.

I watched in surprise as Big John roared out, "Spirit warrior: Ancient Fighter!" Suddenly, his body began to glow with a faint, ancient energy. He moved with increased speed and strength, his attacks becoming more powerful and precise.

I narrowed my eyes, realizing that this new power was going to complicate things. I darted in and out, trying to dodge his attacks, but he was moving too fast. I took a hit to my side, and I felt the air leave my lungs. But I didn't back down, refusing to give up.

I quickly analyzed Big John's movements, looking for a weakness. I noted that he seemed more vulnerable in short bursts of speed, so I decided to try to freeze him again. I dashed towards him, using my ice powers to freeze the ground under him into a slippery surface. At the same time, I conjured up a chain of darkness that lashed out at him, attempting to bind him in place.

As the chain of darkness wrapped around Big John, I quickly shouted out, "Flare Circle!" A ring of fire encircled him, igniting the area around him in a dazzling display of flames.

As Big John struggled against the flames, he suddenly shouted out, "Spirit Lord: Water Queen!" Suddenly, a powerful surge of water erupted from the ground, dousing the flames and creating a wave that swept towards me. I was caught off guard, and the wave slammed into me, knocking me off my feet and sending me flying backwards.

Big John wasted no time taking advantage of my momentary weakness. He lunged forward, his massive fists swinging towards me. I barely managed to dodge his first blow, but the second one connected with my stomach, sending me sprawling to the ground.

I gasped for air, the wind knocked out of me. I tried to get up, but my body protested, every muscle screaming in pain. Big John loomed over me, his face contorted in a mixture of anger and satisfaction. He raised his fist, ready to deliver the final blow.

I let out a pained chuckle, my smirk widening despite my battered state. "Well, that was a fun warmup," I said, my voice hoarse but confident. "You really know how to put up a fight."

In the blink of an eye, I was suddenly behind Big John. He had underestimated my speed once again, assuming I had been too injured to move. But I proved him wrong, using my agility to my advantage.

I landed a powerful kick to Big John's stomach, sending him flying up into the air. Without hesitation, I jumped up after him, grabbed him by the leg and slammed him back down into the ground, the impact causing the arena to shake.

The crowd roared, their cheers and shouts growing deafening as they witnessed the final move. Big John lay sprawled on the ground, dazed and breathless.

I stood over him, my breathing heavy but my expression victorious. "Had enough yet?" I taunted, my voice still cocky and confident.

Big John groaned, pushing himself up weakly. But he could see the determination in my eyes, and he knew he was beaten.

He looked up at me, a mix of respect and resignation in his gaze. "You're damn good," he admitted, his voice low and gruff.

I smirked back at him, offering him a hand to help him up. "Not so bad yourself," I said. "You gave me a real fight."

He took my hand, pulling himself up with a grunt. The crowd was going wild now, their cheers and applause echoing through the arena.

The announcer, who had been watching the battle with rapt attention, stepped forward and raised my hand in the air, signaling my victory. "Ladies and gentlemen, give it up for the winner of this epic battle... Mona!" The crowd erupted into a deafening roar, their cheers and applause filling the arena. I basked in the attention, a satisfied smile crossing my face.

I couldn't help but feel a surge of excitement coursing through my veins. I had won my match, and now I was one step closer to being crowned the champion of the Grand Tournament.
