Chapter 63 - Are you not entertained? Part 1

A man wearing a top hat stands before a high member of the Hand as the man breaks the news to him.

"We'll, I'll be frank with you. As much as I enjoy your shows, the other members of the high council have started to see it as a waste of funding. As you have asked, I have invited some of them so you can prove that this is a good showing, but I am afraid that if they aren't entertained tonight, you will be canceled."

The man sighs as he walks around his desk, considering the heavy words. Staring out the window at all the happy people at the carnival, he smiles, seeing the results of his hard work.

Then his eyes double in size as he catches Cordayl ordering and happily accepting a giant turkey leg.

Turning around with a new dose of enthusiasm, "Ohh, don't worry, I promise that tonight's show will be like no other they have ever seen!" the man tells the high council member.

"I don't doubt it at all, " the councilman smiles. The two shake hands, and as soon as his tent closes, he instantly makes a phone call.

"It's me. You did say that you are bringing your finest specimens tonight, right? Good, inspire them to give their all, and you will receive double tonight." The man hangs up the phone with a smile.

Returning to his window to see the view below, the man laughs as he states this will be a show for the ages.

An announcement is made over the sound system, telling everyone with a golden ticket to make their way to the tent dome. For everyone else, the venue is closing.

Cordayl finishes up in the bathroom and is making his way to the exit when he feels a tap on his shoulder. He turns around to see a bunch of people walking past him.

Shrugging, he turns around and sees a man wearing a top hat standing right in front of him.

Cordayl stares at the man and can tell he recognizes him. He sighs, "Look, I'm not here to destroy anything. It's been a good day, and I just want it to end that way. Cool?"

"Why leave so soon? Why not come to the tent dome? The event there is about to be one that is truly spectacular!" The man with the tall hat states.

"I don't have a ticket, " Cordayl says, trying to walk past the man. The man stays in front of Cordayl, though.

"Luckily for you, I have an extra." He happily shows.

"No thanks. In my experience, free stuff always comes at a price." Cordayl states.

"Well what if I told you, you can't leave?" The man asks.

"What's to stop me from doing that? You?" Cordayl asks in a cold tone.

The chill that goes up the man's spine seeing the look in Cordayl's eyes makes him smile. Taking a step back, the man laughs. "Fine, Cordayl, you are free to leave. If you can find the exit." He states.

"Its literally right th-" Cordayl starts coughing as the man has blown an unknown substance in his face.

Concluding his coughing fit with a big sneeze, Cordayl shakes his head. "Sorry, but poison doesn't work on me, " he says.

"Poison? No, Cordayl, this is a drug not meant for killing but for escaping. You wanted to leave, right? This should help you." The voice claims.

Cordayl blinks his eyes a lot as his perception of reality starts to warp and get trippy.

As he tries to walk towards the exit, it keeps getting further and further away. Then it starts running from him. Cordayl knows he is hallucinating, but he keeps walking.

"This drug won't last long, and when it wears off, I'm going to stuff your body into that tall-ass hat." Cordayl threatens.

"I don't need it to last forever. I just need it to last long enough until you reach the exit, " the man laughs.

Cordayl ignores him as he continues to walk towards the exit. The drug is starting to wear off as Cordayl finally reaches the exit.

Pushing through it, Cordayl is confused and then annoyed to see that he has walked into an open floor surrounded by hundreds of attendees.

The crowd is in shock seeing Cordayl walk out, but they soon erupt in cheers.

"Ladies and gentleman!" The man's voice booms as he stands in the center of the grounds. "I promised you the show of the century. And tonight, I have brought you none other than the Diablo. Do I deliver or what!?" The man asks, receiving a roar of agreement.

Cordayl casually walks up to the man and tries to squeeze him by the throat. The man disappears in a purple cloud, reappearing at another part of the arena as he continues to hype up the crowd. Cordayl tries to grab him again, but the man teleports again, showing up on a line above the crowd.

"And now…" The man pauses for dramatics, "Let the show begin!"

The crowd roars as a big ass warrior comes stomping out from behind Cordayl.

Cordayl turns his head as he watches the massive man walk onto the battlegrounds.

The crowd unite in a rhythmic stomp as they await the battle to start, but Cordayl kills their excitement by stating "I'm not fighting anyone."

The crowd falls silent then Immediately starts to boo Cordayl for not wanting to participate.

Cordayl ignores them as he simply yawns. "Yeah yeah, fuck y'all too."

The man calms the crowd down. "Relax everyone. Relax. Cordayl will fight. I guarantee it."

"And why is that?" Cordayl ask.

"Because if you don't fight. Then this will happen." The man teleports to another ledge full of chained people. Then he pushes one off.

Cordayl hears the scream and instantly moves to catch the person. Succeeding, Cordayl breaks the shackles off the individual and asks them if they are okay.

"Why does that matter? They are dead." Cordayl hears the words, right before the person's brains are blown out in front of him.

Cordayl stands there in shock as the blood slowly slides down his face. The crowd erupts in cheers again, seeing the murder.

The man looks at Cordayl's face with delight, but this quickly turns into fear as he barely manages to teleport to safety before Cordayl can squish his face.

The man's heart is beating like crazy as he tries to calm himself, but the fear returns to his body as he notices Cordayl's eyes are dead-locked on him. Mustering up his nerve, the man booms out into the sound system.

"As you see, Diablo, you refusing to partake in the event will result in death anyway. So either you fight, or I kill. Give these people a show they will never forget or I will fill this arena with the blood of the innocent and make you walk through it to get home." The man states.

Listening to the roar of the crowd due to this unnecessary violence, Cordayl starts to go deaf to the noise as he states out loud. "So you want violence? Fine with me."

Walking up to the giant of a man, Cordayl stands there as the two size each other up.

The big man swings down on Cordayl with a massive blow that sends a wave of wind through the crowd. Those who closed their eyes quickly open them when they hear the man scream out in pain.

Cordayl, straightening out his hand, let the man punch right through his steel strong fingertips. The man pulls his ruined arm back as blood comes pouring out of the gaping hole of his arm.

As the man writhes in pain, Cordayl walks up to him and hits him with an uppercut that sends him flying into the crowd.

The man flies right into the tent's VIP area, crashing through the glass and into the high council members. The unconscious fighter is caught with one hand by an unknown man wearing white gloves.

Calmly walking, the man just drops the warrior out of the window he crashed through as if he were a piece of trash.

The crowd goes wild over Cordayl's flawless victory.

The man teleports over to the captives. "Now that's what I am talking about! Very good, Cordayl. As a reward, I will free one of the slaves." The man says, pushing her off the ledge.

Cordayl runs over to catch her and guards her as he keeps his eyes locked on the man.

"Relax, Cordayl, I'm not going to harm her. They are." He smiles as the next two contenders walk out.
