Chapter 58 - Dreams and Nightmares Part 1

Cordayl awakens from his sleep and cleans his face from the tear and spackle on it. Esquimo and Madam Madamn are surprised that he has finally awakened.

"How do you feel Cordayl?" Madamn ask.

"I feel pretty good. A little stiff. Can I have something to drink? My mouth is pretty dry." Cordayl ask. Madam Madamn levitates a glass of water over to Cordayl, who takes the whole glass to the head.

Putting the glass down, Cordayl asks, "How long was I knocked out?"

"About two days, lad. So, did you get your memory back?" Esquimo asks.

"Yeah, I did destroy the Youtound Kingdom. All of my own fruition." Cordayl says, looking at the ground. "I sought out vengeance, and I got it. I'll live with the consequence of my actions from here on out." Cordayl stands up, finally stretching his tired limbs.

Cordayl grabs his glass and walks over to the pitcher to pour himself another glass of water. Getting to the table, he picks up a framed picture and sees Esquimo and Madam Madamn sandwiching a smiling woman.

Realizing this must be Esquimo's wife, Cordayl puts the picture down and finishes his glass.

Sitting back down on the couch, Cordayl asks them what now.

"Well, laddie, I got you here as promised. Now, this next part of the journey is up to you."

"Up to me," Cordayl says under his breath. Cordayl isn't sure what he wants to do as he sits back on the couch. Memory fully restored, he smiles remembering the names and faces of the new friends he made before meeting Esquimo.

Cordayl remembers when his father, Cordon, took down a group of assassins while carrying a young Cordayl who was too young to fight. Cordayl can remember the calm look on his father's face as he casually walked through and killed the warriors.

His attacks were so precise that not a single drop of blood touched Cordayl. In that moment, Cordon had won all of Cordayl's admiration, as he remembered thinking how cool his father was.

Realizing what he wants to do next, Cordayl opens his eyes to see Madam Madamn on top of him, just staring at him.

Shocked, Cordayl doesn't move. He just stares back into her eyes. "Your internal quarrel is truly solved. I see no more division in your soul. Congratulations Cordayl." Madamn smiles.

"Thank you," Cordayl says.

Madam Madamn still has her eyes locked on Cordayl, but the lust has crept its way into them. She leans in, but a slight interruption from Esquimo stops her. She smiles again, and Cordayl can feel his heart thumping like crazy in his chest as Madam

Madamn leans in and whispers in his ear. "Hurry and fix yourself before Esquimo notices."

Cordayl looks down and, realizing what is wrong, makes the adjustments before sheepishly saying another thank you to Madam Madamn.

Sitting up on the couch, Cordayl turns his attention to Esquimo. "I know what I want to do next."

"And what's that lad?" Esquimo ask.

"I want to walk you home," Cordayl states. "I appreciate all you have done for me more than I can express, but I think you should patch things up with your son. I know he's upset with you right now, but I think it's only because he feels like you chose me over him. Let's go back to your home and tell him he was wrong," Cordayl says.

Esquimo looks at Cordayl, and tears form in his eyes. Pushing them back, Esquimo smiles and agrees.

"Cool, let me stretch a little more before we climb down this mountain," Cordayl says.

"No need. We can take the elevator down." Madam Madamn says, pointing to an elevator that was never there.

Getting to the bottom, the day is beautiful as the trio steps outside. Turning around to give his thanks, Cordayl is surprised to receive a warm kiss goodbye from Madam Madamn.

"You're welcome, Cordayl," Madam Madamn says, stepping away. She then waves her hand and tells them to follow the mist, as it will lead them straight home. Then she walks back into the mountain and disappears.

"Well, let's get you home," Cordayl says as the two get a move on.

As the two trek, Esquimo asks Cordayl about his recovered memories and past experiences, and Cordayl happily shares them with him.

"You went to the Lost Kingdom of Atlanta! My lad, the journies you've had would rival the greatest of legends." Esquimo revels.

Cordayl smiles. "Yeah, it was nice, and the people there are very generous."

"Who was the better guitar player, The King or GORR?" Esquimo ask.

"I never really heard GORR play, but Prince was amazing. Even for someone who lost his passion, he was still the best I've ever seen."

"You should write a book lad. I'm sure you would have a bestseller."

"Maybe one day. Is that what you have been writing this whole time?"

"Who me? Ohh!" Esquimo laughs. "No, laddie, it's just a journal documenting our travels together. My wife would give me one before I went out on duty. She told me the things I didn't want to tell her I could put in the book, and she could read them and understand later.

"Some of the things I recorded, I'm sure, were horrifying for her to sit through, but doing so was very therapeutic for me. Now, it's a force of habit." Esquimo tells him.

"Wow, considering your age, you must have a hundred of these journals," Cordayl states.

"Laddie, didn't I warn you about bringing up my age." Esquimo reminds him with a threatening smile.

Cordayl chuckles but takes a few steps away. Suddenly, a spear is thrown at Cordayl's face, but he catches it before it can land in its mark.

A second spear is thrown, and Cordayl catches this one as well, but with his hands full, his attacker swoops in and swings his weapon with full force at Cordayl.

Cordayl barely dodges the swing. Jumping away, Cordayl and Esquimo are both shocked to see that the attacker is Esquimo's son, Abram.

"Abram! My son, what are you doing?!" Esquimo shouts.

"Doing what you can not. I am here to kill this monster. For your own good, I advise you to stand aside, Father." Abram warns him.

"Abram, you need to give this up and-"

"It's fine, Esquimo. I'll handle this." Cordayl cuts him off

"No, Cordayl, I need to fix this." Esquimo rebuts, stepping in front of him. "Abram, listen,"

But Abram isn't trying to hear anything. Diving low, Esquimo can see the deadly intent in his son's eyes. Esquimo grips his sword but can't bring himself to draw it.

Not even to defend himself.

Cordayl steps in and tries to block the swing, but the hit knocks him back. Abram doesn't slow down as he continues to swing at Cordayl. Cordayl is trying his best not to swing back, but Abram is pushing his patience to its limits.

Cordayl snaps and hits Abram with a massive right, sending him sliding yards away. It's not sure what Abram has been up to since he last saw him, but he has massively improved his physique and combat skills as he shakes off Cordayl's blow.

Esquimo tries to talk to Abram again, but his first response is a swing of his sword, which stops him in his tracks.

"No! I cannot stand by while my father helps a wanted criminal. He deserves death! And if you jump in this fight again, you will share his fate." Abram states, walking back to resume his fight with Cordayl.

Cordayl is ready as he stands across from a glaring Abram. "Abram, listen to your father. I don't want to fight you. I just want to walk Esquimo home. After that, you won't see me again."

"You are right about that. I'm leaving you dead in the ground right here and now. Then I will take my father home."

"And let's say by some miracle you do kill me. What then? You think your father is just gonna smile and laugh with you right after you killed his friend?" Cordayl questions him.

"You have no friends. This world hates you as much as I do. You are a wretched monster who deserves all the pain you are about to receive. And any friend of yours can die, too." Abram hisses.

Upon hearing this, Cordayl's dark aura starts to spill out. At that moment, Cordayl decides he isn't holding back anymore. "So my friend, your father, deserves to die?" Cordayl asks, punching Abram hard in the chest.

Coming to a halt, Abram tries to correct himself. "That's not what I meant!"

Cordayl isn't hearing it, as he is now standing behind Abram.

"A man that took care of you for years and even looked after a wanted man out of the kindness in his heart deserves to die?" Cordayl punches him again.

Catching up to him, Cordayl hits him again and again. "The man that protected your 'precious' kingdom for decades deserves to die?" Cordayl knocks him into the sky.

Jumping into the air with him, Abram hears Cordayl say, "The man who loved your mother more than anything, even past her death, deserves to die, huh?"

Abrams's eyes widen as he stares at an angry Cordayl, who smashes him back down to the earth.

Abram uses what little strength he has left to flip himself into a position of landing. He knows the crash will break his legs, but with his trump card, the pain won't last long.

Landing, Abram's legs snap as he screams out in pain as he falls forward. Esquimo comes sprinting to his side to check on him, but Abram turns his rage onto him.

"You spoke to this monster about my mother." Abram hisses, "You disgust me and shame her precious memory." Abram spits.

Cordayl stares at Abram, who stands there in pure rage. "You don't deserve a father like Esquimo," Cordayl states.

Abram reaches under his armor and grabs the two stone bottles he keeps on his person. Cordayl's attack cracked one of the bottles, but the second one should be enough to give Abram the boost he needs.

After drinking the elixir, steam starts to rise off Abram as his wounds heal, and he increases in muscle mass.

Esquimo watches in shock as his transformed son stomps out of the hole in the ground.

"After I kill him, I am done with you."

Walking till he is face to face with Cordayl, Abram stares down at him and tells him, "I've wanted to kill you ever since I saw you in that basement. But you dare bring up my mother. Now, I will destroy you."

"It's gonna take more than some muscles to make me believe that." Cordayl retorts, accepting the challenge.
