Chapter 13 - Ep.13

Almost everything about the tower was a mystery to Mara aside from who made it. Even Gaia who was one of the strongest Celestial's to ever exist didn't know.

"So this book… can help us see into the tower? How?"

'The book will act as a key in a manner of speaking. It will give access to the Ethereal. From there we just need to find the right book to see what happened in the tower.'

Gaia knew exactly how vast the Ethereal Realm truly was, Infinite. So to find the exact book needed to gaze into the tower was a Celestial trying to find a needle in a haystack the size of the universe.

But while Gaia felt it would take eons to find the right book Jacob casually walked through the wall with a book in his hands.

"Now now Gaia… you know what can happen if you break the rules."

Mara was both shocked by Jacob's sudden appearance and confused with his words of caution. That was until Jacob snapped his fingers to reveal the thousands of Specter's around them with their teeth and claws ready to tare Mara apart.

"Gaia…. What… are these things?"

"Specter's…. Even with my powers to help they would kill you before you can blink. Stay calm and SLOWLY place the book down."

Jacob chuckled which caught their attention before the Specter's eased up and disappeared.

"Relax they are just a little bit protective. Much like Gaia when she was little. Anyway I thought I'd save you the trouble of strolling through an infinite number of corridors."

Jacob placed the book in his hand and opened it to show the events of Aiden's first battle with Thyrum.

Jacob had expected Mara and Gaia to be shocked but Mara was quite collected.

"Oh… he fought a fire Drake? I thought it would have been a demon."

Jacob scoffed while Gaia felt the light drain from her eyes after seeing Thyrum.

"Mara… not even a National Hunter would be able to kill that beast."

"…What?"

Jacob collected the book and returned it to the Ethereal Realm and left Mara and Gaia to their shock in the spare room.

Meanwhile Aiden was practicing with a set of training Daggers supplied by Mara on a straw dummy.

That was until he heard a loud bang on the table to see Jacob wearing his armour.

'W-W-Who? How did this man sneak up on me? I didn't even feel his presence!'

In truth Jacob would have been discovered by Aiden if he didn't use a Vanishing Spell to conceal any presence from Aiden.

"W-Who are you?! What do you want?!"

Jacob lobbed a twin set of black daggers that almost make a hole in the floor by Aiden's feet.

"When your training with a blade then you should use a proper blade, Enjoy."

Aiden looked at the two daggers in the ground and could tell at a glance that their quality was exceptional.

"Why are you…. Huh???"

Jacob faded again before Aiden could speak further which led Aiden to be confused by Jacob's sudden departure.

Aiden hesitated to grab the blades but knew he might get in trouble with Mara if she found two daggers in the floor with a giant gash mark.

However something unexpected happened when he reached for the two daggers as a Status Screen appeared much like his own status screen.

But upon gazing into his stats he noticed three things different from other Hunters.

"I still can't believe I have a blessing. I thought you can only get a blessing if I become a Celestial's Avatar?"

If he were to ask Mara to see her status then he would most definitely see Gaia's blessing there. Next Jacob gazed at the inventory button before clicking it to show something similar to a video game inventory.

And finally was the class part of the status as there are no such things as classes. Hunters play to what their confident with so they self label themselves to the type of class they want to be.

'Most large Guilds and nations struggle to kill a dragon. But why am I a dragon Slayer Candidate?! I just want to be an assassin!'

Originally Aiden wanted to become a swordsman but after holding the pair of training daggers recommended by Mara he switched his goals to become an assassin as a pair of daggers felt more comfortable in his hands then a sword.

Undoubtedly Aiden knew he would gain immense power if he were to become a real Dragon Slayer but that would undoubtedly mean he would have to face calamities that even most nations couldn't handle.

Aiden was following Mara's advice to improve his skills with daggers to be better prepared for his journey into the tower.

And While Aiden was trying his daggers and fighting stances with Mara the other climber Mel has successfully succeeded in creating an undead Demon Imp.

"I did it! I created an undead!"

Melodea was clapping like she watched her children win a medal in a competition while Tuan and Jakmol remained straight faced with no emotion.

"Great~~~, you managed to create a useless undead that only cares about shiny objects."

"Even a rat would have been a better option then a demon Imp."

Mel felt a vein bulging from her forehead before firing the undead Imp to attack Jakmol and Tuan while they remained helpless to stop it from scratching them with its claws.

"It seems I need to make sure that you both have at least some humility. Now until I know you both have reflected on your actions Gol here will continue until your ready to be kind."

Mel ignored Tuan and Jakmol as they pleaded for forgiveness while she ate some more obsidian cookies and black oil tea.

"Maybe I'm not a Necromancer… it took me nearly 4 days just to turn a Demon Imp into an undead."

Mel was sulking due to her struggle until Jakmol shouted while he was being attacked by Gol the First undead Demon.

"Demons don't have souls so it was almost impossible to create undead from demons as both their physical and spiritual form turn to ash! Ahhh! Can you please get this little bastard off of us! We're sorry for being rude!"

Mel dropped the cookie that was half eaten and turned to look at Melodea who smiled and nodded.

'That goddam bastard!'

Mel was filled with rage but not for Melodea or Tuan or even Jakmol as the point of her anger was aimed at Jacob.

"Glad to see you managed to complete your training. Now you should have no problem creating other undead."

"You bastard! Couldn't you make it a little bit easier?! I've been awake for 4 days!"

Jacob appeared from the shadows like an evil villain while he casually shook off before placing a mask resembling an Oni Demon with black skin.

"You should be thankful. Because of your determination and persistence you did the impossible. You subconsciously supplied the corpse with remnants of broken souls to give a soul to something without a soul, Truly an amazing feat."

Like a child during a tantrum Mel began stomping her feet in a fit of rage while Jacob tried some of Melodea's baked sweets.

"I want to go home and eat ramen! I want normal food and I want to watch anime!"

Mel was upset not just because of the agony of of difficult the last 4 days have been.

But also because she desperately wanted to live the modern life again as she wasn't allowed to leave until she succeeded. All she had to sustain her hunger were Melodea's bizarre foods and drinks that had bitter tastes, looked inedible and had funky smells and aromas.

But Mel couldn't deny that they helped her during her training as each bizarre dish served gave unexpected boons such as Stone pizza with Cerberus Blood used as the sauce and Tree Spirit shavings as cheese.

This seemingly abysmal dish called Hell's Pizza granted Mel increased Mana and Mana Recovery by tenfolds.

Without it Mel thought she would be here for months. So being deprived of normal human food only increased Mel's cravings for Ramen and beer.

"Open the gateway back right now! I want to go home! I WANT MY RAMEN! AND I WANT IT NOW!"

Jacob sighed and snapped his fingers before Mel, Tuan and Jakmol were brought back to Mel's apartment. Mel immediately raided the fridge and grabbed almost everything except for a half empty beer bottle and an apple.

And as she started eating everything to satisfy her cravings Jacob looked over and chuckled to see Gol, the undead demon imp scratching Jakmol and Tuan endlessly while they were forced to heal each other.

Mel kept chowing down on her food like it was her last meal on earth but stopped momentarily once Jacob sat down.

"…I'm not sharing my food so piss off."

"Relax I'm not looking to take your food. Just to say you should head back to the Tower before tomorrow afternoon."

Mel, Tuan and Jakmol looked at Jacob with confusion before Tuan and Jakmol continued enduring the endless attacks by Gol.

"Why? What happens tomorrow?"

"…Just be ready. Once the battle is done then go back to the tower. I'll be waiting to give you your answers."

Without so much as a word being said Mel continued eating while Jacob vanished.

But Jacob's words could stop messing with Mel's thoughts.

'What did he mean by 'Just be ready'? Is something going to happen tomorrow?'
