Henry's voice dropped when he saw her. "Miss Dawn… Please. Just let us go. We'll disappear, okay? You won't see us again."
Aurora smiled. Not kindly. It was the kind of smile that made your stomach drop.
"You know," she said softly, "if I go through the law, you might get away. You might use Adeline's father. Maybe even blame someone else."
She paused.
"But if I take care of you myself… well. Then I don't have to worry about rules."
She gave a signal with her fingers.
Two more bodyguards stepped forward, cracking their knuckles.
Henry's eyes went wide. "Wait—NO—!"
Before he could say another word—
WHAM!
A punch landed on his stomach.
THWACK!
Another hit his face, making him stumble backward.
Lucy screamed, but the second bodyguard didn't hesitate. She got the same treatment.
Punches. Kicks. Slaps.
They both collapsed to the ground, groaning and crying.
Aurora stood there, watching coldly, her arms crossed.
