"B! Snap out of it! Don't let that thing control you!" A's fists were clenched tightly, veins bulging on his arms. If the Eight-Tails lost control here, things would become a real mess.
Wrapped in a crimson cloak, Killer B slowly straightened his posture.
"Big Bro, it's fine. Me and the Eight-Tails are tight now. We've been working together and developed a brand-new state. Let me test it out."
A wanted to say more, but a large hand suddenly blocked his path. It was Kakuzu.
"Leave the rest to me."
"Kakuzu-sama, that's the Eight-Tails..."
"I know. But your brother isn't lying. Your job is to stay out of this."
"...Understood."
As they spoke, the Eight-Tails' full form emerged before them—a towering figure, several dozen meters tall, with the upper body of a bull and the lower body covered in octopus tentacles. It was an odd fusion of forms, but its explosive muscles and fierce gaze made it clear—this was no opponent to be trifled with.
"The Eight-Tails... Gyūki, right?"
"Heh, so you even know my name. I can sense the aura of Isobu and Kokuō on you. Looks like they've had their run-ins with you. You're certainly not an ordinary guy."
A smirk curled at the corner of the Eight-Tails' mouth, revealing rows of sharp white teeth.
"But let me make something clear—I ain't like them."
The beast stood with its arms crossed, its chakra flaring with a violent surge. A raging windstorm erupted, sweeping across the battlefield, making Kakuzu's cloak billow wildly. The nearby Kumo-nin shielded their faces, struggling to hold their ground against the sheer pressure of the Eight-Tails' presence.
"Stronger bloodlust than the One-Tail, more ferocious attacks than the Five-Tails, and at least twice the chakra reserves of the Seven-Tails... No wonder you're the Eight-Tails."
Hearing Kakuzu's assessment, the beast puffed out its chest proudly. Unlike the other Tailed Beasts, it knew its own worth.
"Even the Third Raikage had to take me seriously. But you? You look pretty calm for someone facing me. Tell me—what's your goal?"
Kakuzu raised a single finger. "I need some of your chakra."
"Huh? You want a piece of my power? You got some nerve. How about you try beating me first?"
Kakuzu had anticipated this. He was more than ready for a fight. But before he could act, the Eight-Tails continued, "Oh, I should mention—B and I are using the Perfect Jinchūriki state. But this is only our second time fusing, so it's still not perfect. We can only maintain it for about five minutes. If you can't give me a satisfactory reason before time's up, then sorry—my power ain't for loan."
Hearing this, Kakuzu abruptly halted mid-step.
"What's the matter, human? Giving up alread—"
"You idiot ox!"
"Nani?!"
"Only five minutes?! Why the hell didn't you say that sooner?!"
They had already wasted a full minute just talking. That was beyond frustrating.
Kakuzu kicked off the ground, launching himself like an arrow. As he soared through the air, the black threads covering his body burst apart. Dark, solid masses shot out from his back, spreading like enormous black wings.
"Earth Grudge Fear: Final Form!"
His hands came together in a rapid sequence of seals.
"Fire Style: Head Incineration!"
"Wind Style: Pressure Blast!"
"Water Style: Whirlpool Execution!"
"Storm Style: Thunder Spear!"
"Earth Style: Seismic Core!"
Five different chakra natures erupted simultaneously, forming a storm of elemental destruction. The attacks converged on the Eight-Tails, bombarding its massive body with deafening explosions. Smoke and debris filled the air, the ground scorched black from the sheer intensity of the assault.
Standing at a distance, A and the Kumo-nin were left speechless by the devastation.
"Lord A, what should we do?"
A's face twisted in hesitation. "For now… prioritize evacuating the civilians."
"Understood."
"Wait!"
The Kumo-nin turned back, puzzled.
After two seconds of inner conflict, A clenched his fists. "Take off our Kumo headbands. This... this must not get back to my father. If he finds out, we're done for!"
Kakuzu made sure to keep the battle away from the civilian areas. The five-element bombardment landed directly on the Eight-Tails, causing it to stagger. However, Kakuzu's sharp eyes caught something—despite the impact, the beast was moving in sync with him.
Through the haze of dust, a massive black sphere emerged—
A Tailed Beast Bomb.
"If you can't handle this, don't blame me!"
The enormous dark sphere shot toward him, pulsing with catastrophic energy. But Kakuzu didn't budge. He extended his left hand—
Dark Release activated.
Two minutes later—
Kakuzu stood, his body emitting wisps of smoke. The Eight-Tails, still shrouded in residual dust, slowly became visible again.
"Huh?" The beast's eyes widened in genuine surprise. "You actually took my Tailed Beast Bomb head-on. Guess I underestimated you. If I had more time, I'd charge up an even bigger one."
Kakuzu shook out his slightly numb hand, unfazed. "So, do we have a deal?"
The Eight-Tails' chakra was so immense that even a casually formed Tailed Beast Ball contained an overwhelming amount of energy.
"Just as you said, there's no time to gather an even larger Tailed Beast Ball."
"Human, are you admitting defeat? What a shame. I estimate I can maintain this state for another minute or so. Otherwise, I would have enjoyed a proper fight with you."
A flicker of hesitation flashed in Kakuzu's eyes, but it was quickly replaced by steely resolve. Indecision only led to missed opportunities—some things simply had to be done.
He raised three fingers. "Give me thirty seconds."
The Eight-Tails narrowed its eyes in confusion. "Thirty seconds? Enough time to prepare a large-scale jutsu? What, do you expect me to just let you have it?"
Kakuzu shook his head. "Thirty seconds is more than enough to make you wish for death. And the remaining thirty seconds… you can use to crawl back inside your Jinchūriki."
The Eight-Tails froze for a moment before baring its fangs in laughter.
"You must be joking! Defeating me, the mighty Eight-Tails, in thirty seconds? Impossible! Unless…"
Ignoring the beast's mocking laughter, Kakuzu swiftly formed hand seals, pressing both palms against the ground just a second later. This jutsu was somewhat unstable, and he hadn't fully mastered it, but given the urgency of the situation, he had no choice but to try.
"Wood Release: Four-Pillar Bind!"
Rumble!
Four massive wooden pillars erupted from the earth, encircling the Eight-Tails from all sides. At their sharp, spear-like tips, twisted growths rapidly extended, piercing deep into the beast's flesh.
The Eight-Tails roared, but Kakuzu remained unfazed. Whether this technique would be enough—he would soon find out.
