Chapter 20 - chapter 20: Law of the forest

In the Great Forest, humans, elves, dwarves, hafling, and all the other tribes live together in harmony with the Balance Kingdom's guidance and consultation.

In one of the halfling villages, the air was filled with laughter and joy. A group of halfling children played together in the village square, their cheerful voices echoing between the homes.

Halflings were known for their blessings — small people with big hearts, gifted with unique powerful skills. Their village stood by a single powerful motto: All for one, and one for all.

"My parents will win this year's hunting contest and bring back the biggest game!" one kid boasted proudly.

"No way! My dad is definitely going to win!" another shouted.

Another girl said in loud voice,my mom and dad will win this year remember it, you will see.

Each child claimed their parents was the best hunters. Then, Halfy stepped forward, puffing his chest and shouting in a proud voice, "My father will win easily! He's the village chief after all!"

A red-haired boy smirked. "Didn't you forget? My dad was the chief before yours. He's the one who made your dad the chief, remember?"

Halfy shot back with a playful tone, "That's what they say going for a better days ! But let me explain something to make it clear for you— my dad is better, that's why he's the boss now."

He added in a confidence voice, "Remember last year? We didn't even have venison in the winter. This year we will — because my dad is in charge!"

A White haired girl spoke out loud. "Halfy and Redly are going to fight! Let's all watch and let's bet Who will win this time!"

Redly crossed his arms. "It was mating season, genius. My father chose not to hunt to protect the forest continuity. That's wisdom. Your dad is reckless just like you."

Halfy snapped, "You wanna fight redly?"

Redly grinned. "Bring it on, Halfy!"

The older villagers watching from a distance chuckled.

A nearby woman frowned. "You should stop them and teach them a lesson to not to fight. Instead, you're enjoying the show!"

The old men, kids, and even Halfy and Redly all shouted in unison, "Joy-breaker!"

The lady waved her broom in the air. "What did you say, you old meatbags?"

An elder raised his cane with a grin. "Bring it on, young lady!"

Just as laughter filled the square, it was suddenly interrupted by a group of strangers entering the village — wild hyenas, about twenty of them, raiding in broad daylight it was the hyenas village the raid a big wild hyenas.

The old man stood up, frowning. "Those hyena tribes didn't learn their lesson last time. We chose peace, and this is how they repay us?"

The lady muttered, "They've been waiting for this — all the strong fighters Who is authorized to fight in that cases, are away on missions. But attacking in broad daylight… that's bold, i hope they being more stupid and attack you old Then wipe the floor with them."

The elder stepped forward and raised his hand, speaking in a calm voice, "Stop. Leave now, before you do something you'll regret."

One of the hyenas replied nervously, "We have no choice. We need your supplies I mean our supplies in the forest we are hunter and we hunted this supplies looks it's still not authorized this cattle we just hunting them he said in scarry voice."

The old man see his way he talking, and think they now we still need permission for livestock farming,it I guess that's why the messenger was late, this law was implement in a hasty and reckless ways but i can just take them down in other ways but sometimes is off i will wait for the others .

Another young hyena showed his dagger. "Back off, old man. Don't test me."

The old man's eyes narrowed. "Be thankful for the Law of the Forest. If not for it, I'd teach you a lesson you'd never forget."

A powerful aura spread through the air. But one of the hyenas suddenly shouted, "Stop it!"

The younger hyena lowered his weapon. "Your days are numbered, old man."

The old man thought to himself, Someone's pulling their strings. We may need to revisit the forest laws with the lions and other tribes.

The hyenas ransacked the village's main storage house, laughing and stealing food, cattle, tools, and even wine, and using hunting as cover.

The children were scared that was they first time seeing their strong old man able to nothing. But Halfy and Redly, the boldest kids in the village, stood tall. "We'll stop them!" they yelled in unison.

The lady quickly pulled them back. "No! Wait for your fathers. They'll handle this."

Halfy and Redly tried to run after the raiders, but their steps faltered.

Redly snapped, "If you're so strong, why didn't you fight?"

The lady sighed. "You old fools didn't teach them anything…"

The elder ignored her words. Some hyenas were laughing, but a few were visibly shaken — scared of something.

Halfy glared at the hyena with the dagger. "I'll remember you."

The hyena grinned wickedly. "You're just lucky. If not for the law, half of you would be dead already."

And with that, they vanished into the forest, leaving the village in chaos and confusion.

The elder turned to the children. "What happened today doesn't mean we're weak. But the Law of the Forest forbids us from using force against weaker tribes that haven't caused physical harm."

Halfy clenched his fists. "What law?! They attacked us and took everything!"

Redly added, "You grown-ups are idiots! They robbed us in broad daylight!"

Halfy said, "Let's wait for our fathers. Then we can fight back this old people just want to go back to sleep."

The old man looked at the kids, sadness in his eyes. They don't understand yet it's not the time for educate them about this kind of schemes.

The lady turned to the elder. "Master Arif, what do we do now? This is the fifth village they've hit. You're one of the forest's wise men you should start thinking."

Arif stroked his long white beard thoughtfully. "This situation is complicated… Let's wait for the others to come back."
