Chapter 61 - Chapter 61 - Danger.

With magic infused into the blade, I swung my sword downward, making a clean cut. My sword sliced through the monsters with ease, killing them instantly.

Four of them died on the spot, and items dropped to the ground.

The remaining monsters grew even more enraged and began trying to reach me, but I didn't let them get close. I kept swinging my sword as fast as I could.

One monster fell after another, and more items continued to drop.

Excited, my lips curled into a wide grin, and my heart raced.

"This is so much fun! It's like farming items in New World!" I shouted and continued slaughtering the monsters. After a few minutes, they started squeezing through the narrow path, getting closer and closer.

Since their bodies disappeared upon death, more space opened up for them.

I began retreating while cutting down the approaching monsters.

They couldn't attack me before dying. I was so exhilarated that my speed increased even more.

The number of monsters dropped rapidly, but I started to feel exhausted.

I wasn't sure if it was due to a lack of magic or just the sheer effort I was putting in.

Even so, I kept attacking.

After a few more minutes, I felt a wall against my back.

I had exited the narrow path and arrived in a wide corridor. The monsters also emerged from the passage and continued chasing me. I opened the map to check how many were still alive.

"There are still… 12… 18… 21? There are still 21 monsters left? I thought I had killed way more than that!" Cold sweat ran down my back. I grabbed my water bottle and drank it all in one go.

Then, I pulled out two sandwiches and quickly ate them while still running.

Once I had put enough distance between me and the monsters, I stopped to rest for a bit.

I kept the map open and remained on high alert.

"What do I do now? I don't have any skills to use… And that strategy won't work… Unless I find an even narrower path."

Or maybe I'm just overthinking things.

"My speed is way higher than I thought. The monsters couldn't even attack before getting killed. Should I just face them head-on? It could be a good experience."

I should have a little more faith in the armor I forged, shouldn't I?

"Maybe their claws won't cut through it."

But it's best not to get hit at all.

I smiled bitterly and stood up.

My entire body was drenched in sweat—damn it. I took a deep breath and felt a bit refreshed. Then, I heard footsteps approaching.

"They're getting close already. Let's do this."

I channeled magic into my sword and prepared to attack.

"So it was just exhaustion. I still have plenty of magic left. Thank you, Magic Enhancement LV3!"

I took a deep breath and prepared to face the horde of monsters head-on. There was plenty of space, so I didn't have to worry about getting cornered.

"I can't let them surround me under any circumstances."

If that happened, I'd be screwed.

I looked at the approaching monsters and got ready to strike.

Noticing my intent to fight them directly, the monsters grew excited, moving even faster. They all swung their arms frantically, eager to tear me apart.

So I struck first.

In an instant, I was right in front of them, not giving them a chance to react.

Shocked, they instinctively raised their arms to defend themselves.

My sword sliced through both arms of two monsters. Now they couldn't hurt me. I had taken away their only weapons.

The wounded monsters seemed to be in pain, flailing around and obstructing the other bloodthirsty creatures. I took advantage of their restricted movements and continued attacking the ones in the front line.

I mainly targeted their arms—disarming them.

One, two, three. Three monsters in a row had at least one arm severed by my sword.

Excited, I lopped off the head of one of them, making its body vanish.

The entire group lost mobility due to the injured monsters getting in the way. Seizing the opportunity, I attacked those in the back. Of course, I couldn't hit all of them.

I managed to cut off the hands of two more and pierced the heads of another two, killing them instantly.

The number of monsters quickly dropped to 15.

The armless ones finally gave up and stopped moving, so I finished them off by stabbing them in the head.

When their numbers dwindled to 10, the remaining monsters became even more enraged.

It looked like they had entered a berserker state.

I began retreating slightly, attacking in short bursts—one strike at a time. Every attack was precise. I either killed them in one move or left them disarmed. With each fallen monster, the survivors became even angrier.

At some point, they started screaming, despite not having mouths. At least, I couldn't see any in the darkness of their faces.

"It's almost over."

The group was down to five, and two of them were missing an arm. But I noticed something strange—their speed had increased for some reason. It was as if they had leveled up.

And while they were getting stronger, I was growing weaker.

I was finally starting to feel my magic running low.

How long have I been doing this? A few minutes?

I thought I had more magic than this.

Dripping with sweat, I decided to distance myself from the monsters—but this time, I couldn't.

As I ran, I glanced back and saw that they were right on my heels.

"What's going on? Did my speed drop? Or did they get faster?"

Don't tell me… is Movement Boost deactivated?

It's a passive skill, so it should always be active!

"Damn it!"
