Chapter 33 - Chapter 33 - Phoenix Eggs Preparation Completed and Communication Watch

Unlike what Severus told him, Felix didn't receive a letter and neither did he. Either the news became false or the ministry was dragging their feet. So the older boy was in a bitter mood, while Felix just tossed the award out of his mind. He had more interesting things to do then get some award for some politician to look good.

These interesting things naturally are the phoenixes and communication watch.

The phoenixes were pretty straight forward, while the communication watch is to buff his small gadget shop. Right now his small shop only held a light pen, color dial, and speed reading glasses. Hence he wanted to increase the options he had to sell.

Sadly, well more like he didn't have time or energy to craft the hoverboards to just be put up for display. The demand wasn't very strong since it took him from Christmas to the end of the school year to sell the seven of them. Even then it was just to have it for display as some collector item.

So currently, the hoverboards were but the prices and delay due to crafting them. They weren't very popular among the students since most prefer brooms. Hence, he felt it would be wiser to add to his small shop and earn money to fund his whimsical ideas.

Now as the end of the month approached and breakfast was coming to an end. A owl flew in where a note with near illegible writing was delivered to him. After a bit of decoding, Felix smiled as he looked at his two friends.

"Hagrid has gotten the eggs and found the other materials needed. We can prepare the eggs now." Felix said. "I will go down to Hagrid to pick them up and meet you at the classroom."

"Why don't either I or John go instead." Angel smiled.

Felix gave them a confused look. "I am perfectly capable of walking there and back on my own. No need to treat me as a toddler."

It had come to his attention that both John and Angel seemed to treat him like a toddler at times. He just thought they like hanging out with him, but at times they act like his nanny. Now he decided to prove he is capable and doesn't need them to be his nanny.

"Then, we will meet you in the classroom." John nodded as he read the Daily Prophet.

Felix smiled at John for believing in him unlike Angel as he stood and walked out of the Great Hall. Just after he left, it's a good thing he didn't hear John's next sentence, it would make him want to stomp the ground in frustration.

"I am going to the library to finish up my potion homework. It will be a few hours before he arrives." John said.

Angel shook her head at John, before getting up from the table. "I am going to ask a couple questions to Professor McGonagall."

Inside Hagrid's Hut, Felix looked over the material Hagrid managed to gather from the Forest. He once again gave Hagrid a thumbs up at the speed he could collect these things. While they were very common, Felix felt it was a good thing he asked Hagrid. Otherwise, if he tried to collect it himself, who knows how long it would take him. Not to mention gather materials with such quality.

"Excellent Hagrid. You have managed to find such quality." Felix praised the man.

"You're going to make me blush." Hagrid said happily. "I had some trouble finding these eggs, but I found them at Diagon Alley. Got them for five knuts believe it or not."

Felix nodded before taking a closer look at the eggs. While not the best, they were still usable for hatching a phoenix.

"So how much do I owe you?" Felix asked.

"Don't worry about it. Just show me what you plan to do with them when you're done." Hagrid waved his hand.

"If all goes to plan, they should hatch in February." Felix replied.

It took around five months for a phoenix to hatch. So it wasn't a quick project by any means and if an accident happens. Well, all that effort and time went to waste.

"I want to see a phoenix hatch, so be sure to invite me to see when the time comes." Hagrid said.

"Naturally." Felix smiled.

--

Felix followed the compass he charmed to direct him to the classroom. He found John and Angel missing and thought they were just caught up by something. So after placing the eggs and materials to the side. Felix began to dig out the instruction to hatching phoenixes and picked up his egg.

Lightly using a brush, he patted the egg before he picked up another rush. Using it he began to gently paint various symbols on it, where it lightly glowed once he was done. Nodding to himself, he then gently placed it into his Gubraithian Fire where the egg will sit for the next five months. Should it be removed from the fire, it means this egg will be wasted.

"Strange, why haven't they come yet?" Felix scratched his head.

Looking at the time, Felix decided to focus on his second goal today. The making of the first couple communication watch. It wasn't so much a watch per say, but using communication magic, but since he is making a tool to use this magic. So those with little or no magic can theoretically use it.

This is why he asked for more materials on the side when requesting the eggs. Pulling out the large diamonds he made with the burnt wood. These weren't of high quality nor were considered low quality either. Felix picked up his engraving tool and placed a magnifying glass over one of his eyes.

Then he went to engraving some circuits into the diamonds. These circuits weren't so much the communication magic, but just a standard circuit to keep the spell attached. Thanks to this circuit, in theory even after ten thousand years if well maintained, the communication magic he enchanted it with would still work perfectly.

Slowly and carefully, Felix engraved the diamonds before him. After he finished doing the fifth and last diamond he had on hand. He leaned back into his chair which is when Angel, John and Albus Dumbledore walked in holding a box.

Glancing at the time, Felix stood up and pointed dramatically. "You're late."

"Calm down, we lost track of time." John gave a bad lie.

It should be noted John isn't very good at lying as his eyes shifted away and refused to look at Felix. Felix just nodded too before looking at the other two. Losing track of time is fine and easy to do.

"Well, that explains John, what about you Angel? Also, Headmaster, what are you doing here?"

"You actually believe that?" Angel asked, almost shocked.

"Of course not. I thought it would be more fun to play along." Felix shrugged.

"I heard you were doing a fun project, so I wanted to join in. I even brought my own materials." Dumbledore smiled.

In the box was an egg, some brushes and his own Gubraithian Fire. Looking at the material in the box, Felix nodded and guessed the Headmaster got the information from Hagrid. So, he nodded and brought out the journal for it and handed it to Dumbledore to look over.

John and Angel had already studied it and after picking up the eggs, they began to brush the eggs themselves. While Dumbledore sat down the box at one of the empty tables in the room and hummed as he read. Nodding, he seemed to smile as if he found it very interesting.

"You are a very amazing child, Felix." Dumbledore smiled. "Every thought of publishing this?"

"No. The world doesn't need so many phoenixes and who knows how many dark wizards and witches would breed and harvest them." Felix shook his head. "I don't care if others know that I know how to breed them, but I won't release the method."

"I think most would get stumped at the first step." Dumbledore hummed.

"When there is a will, there is a way." Felix replied, getting back to work on his own project.
