When I reached the room, the first thought that crossed my mind was what if she tried the same thing as last night?
God help me if she did.
The way she looked at dinner tonight… like every man's fevered dream made flesh nd yet completely aware of the effect she had. Her dress hugged her like a second skin, and that little tilt of her chin when she caught me watching? I felt my composure slipping right then.
If she pulled another stunt like that, I wouldn't survive it.
I wouldn't have the strength to push her away.
I don't have that kind of control when it comes to her. Scarlet as she is everything I shouldn't want, everything I have warned myself against. Yet somehow, she is the only one I seem to see.
When I opened the door and stepped in, my eyes landed on her instantly.
