The day had been a disaster from the start in the office.
Daniel ignored his mother's constant calls—he'd tuned her out for hours because he knew what she wanted to say. He knew she had seen what was on the news. He was certain that it was bloody related to it so he buried himself into work.
His phone buzzed again. James. He'd been getting update after update all day. Victoria has sent another message to remind him and her father too. They'd found out, somehow, that Regina was the CEO of Smith Fashion Company, and they weren't sure about her credentials. The idea of a non-family member, let alone his new wife taking the lead was anathema to them.
His phone buzzed again.
"James," Daniel muttered when he answered the call, pinching the bridge of his nose. "What now?"
