A few minutes before.....
Jim was left standing their heaving after a long fought battle and the carnage surrounding him, but what hooked his attention was the sight before him.
Toby lying in the burnt remains of the Trifurcate radiation blaster was dead for nearly 5 minutes now. Jim
clutched the Time Stone tightly in his trembling hand, its cool surface pulsing with an ancient, almost otherworldly energy. The weight of his failure pressed against his chest like an iron slab. The faces of his friends, his family—everyone he'd lost—flashed through his mind. Toby's laughter. Claire's determined gaze. Blinky's wisdom. All gone because of one wrong decision.
But he could fix it. He would fix it.
"Jim, are you sure about this?" Aja's voice broke through his thoughts. She stood beside him, her usual confident demeanor tinged with concern. "Messing with time isn't something you can just undo. There are consequences."
Jim turned to her, his blue eyes burning with resolve. "The consequences don't matter if it means saving them. I can't let Toby die. I can't let any of them die."
Aja hesitated but nodded, stepping back to give him space.
He took a deep breath and focused on the Time Stone now embedded in his amulet.
The energy within it began to respond, swirling and glowing brighter as he concentrated. Arcane symbols appeared around him, forming a shimmering vortex that grew wider and wider until it engulfed him completely unknowing swapping him with the new soul of a completely different timeline.
--------------------------
Waking up my head felt abnormally heavy. It was probably from working overnight to build my testing time machine, although it always failed it was one thing I was actually passionate about.
Being a prodigy all my life had its perks. I was filthy rich, living a lavision lifestyle with the abundance I had, I was a master at conversation so It was no issue for me finding a good partner or friends, I had it all. But at the same time a wieght of boredom carried with me thoughout my entire life.
getting up from my slump I got up from bed, my eyes still closed from the pain I was feeling i my head.
'I should probably go t the doctor t get this checked, it hurt more than usual today' I thought while walking towards my door. Reaching out my hand I grabbed the handle only to be met with a wall blocking my way.
'Weird' was the first thing that came to mind. I had memorized the entire layout of my house several times of so somehow missing the door handle, something I'd do practically everyday was exceptionally rare,
I half opened my eyes and scanned my surroundings. A regular looking room came before my sights and wit this newfound information I knew something was wrong,
Did a wizard come down and make my bedroom smaller and impoverished.
The layout looked like something I had back in my elementary school days when I was still living with my parents. But I still had no idea where I was, I wasn't kidnapped I thought as I tugged on the doorhandle allowing the door to slowly squeak open in front of me.
heading out the room and down the staircase I analyzed the place before me it looked like I was in a stable persons house judging how clean and organized the place is. the only issue is how I got here, maybe I got tired went out somewhere and collapsed that'd also explain the major headache I have aswell. Continuing to search the bottom floor checking to see if anyones awake my head began throbbing even harder than before.
"Arggh" I groaned making my search come to a painful halt. "Shit whats happening to my head!" I aggressively let out heaves of air from my labored lungs the pain crawling throughout my head at a rapid pace eventually reaching the entirety of my head.
A burning sensation quickly followed the pain that'd knockut a regular person. "AhHh!" I was now boreline screaming out sobs when a blue light came from my forehead now decorated with ancient runes going in circles.
And finally the pain stopped as soon as it started replaced with a newfound awareness.
Catching my breath everything was now much clearer to me now-- I understood the pain, where I was.
"I am Jim" I declared fully proccessig the lifetime worth inforation given to me in that moment. The emotions of toby's death, the skills of a fully realized trollhunter, the mind of the man who beleived Toby would be a better suited cndidate for the trollhunter position. With this came another realisation.
'I'm gonna be late for school!'
I got up from the floor I was now lying on from the sheer pain I had experienced before. Heading to the kitchen I knew I had to prep some meals for a few people now all I had to decide is what?
Meatloaf came to mind but I knew just by the cooking time alone being around 45 minutes without prep would put me way behind schedule for school so instead I decided to make toby's favorite me instead. gourmet tacos. He should consider it as an apology from me since I'd have to make us both intentionally a bit late this time to grab the amulet in the daylight.
Opening the fridge I got out some prepackaged salmon, and a full cabbage ready to make some fish tacos. grabbing my trusty kitchen knife and the corn tortillas, and olive oil from the cabinet I began efficiently preparing each f our meals with what felt like an unnatural but practiced delicacy. I put the si of the nine I made in to seperate brown bags with plastic containers in them adding my special spicy mayo sauce into both bags.
Now that that was completely my mind started to pick up its usual pace from my previous prodigious life. I now had memories from two lives in a world filled with magic I needed to figure out what I should d-, but before I could complete my thoughts I heard someone coming from behind me.
"Jim your up." a woman said, her already familiar motherly tone wafted into his er as he slowly turned around. "You where making a lot of noise down here, is everything okay?" she asked concern laced in her eyes.
I walked up to her paper bag in hand "Oh sorry did I wake you up again, I'm fine, just made some breakfast for you before I headed out." I told her my voice steady but still processing the fact that this beautiful nurse in front of me was now my mother.
So gave me a soft smile and a hug before taking the food "I'll make sure to enjoy it, now hurry your already late to start heading to school." I looked at the stoves timer displayed show 7:30am on the screen. School started at eight and by that time we'd barely sqeak it out if we started peddling now ago.
"Oh shoot, alright love you mom I'll see you tonight!" I said grabbing the other brown bag and giving her a peck on the cheek on my way out a she waved my rushing figure goodbye.
Entering the garage I grabbed my helmet that was gently resting on the bike handle and sat in my seat leaning toward the wall to press the garage door open.
The rays of sunlight slowly crept up my body as the garage door slowly lifted revealing the ever friendly toby pulling up to the lot right on time, My heart fluttered for a second , his recent death still fresh in my mind bur seeing him now brought me a newfound comfort I wasn't ready to let go.
"Hey Tobs" I said as casually as I could muster. Toby coming to a full stop got off his bike looking completely drained, soaked in sweat he greeted back "Hey..Uhhhh.. Jim".
I rolled my bike over to his battered form, "Here take this, it'll give you a boost" I said pushing the bag onto him. He quickly grabbed it creating energy from thin air just to sniff his lunch bag.
*Sniff, Sniff* "Is that fish I smell witha hint of..*SNIFFF* spicy mayo." he said as if he was some sort of culinary god. "Spot on," I said facening my helmet "Yoou can enjoy your meal once we get to school".
Toby glanced at his watch and his eyes buldged out in comical panick "OHH boy were so dead!" He quickly got on his bike and I began peddling with toby not to far behind. With this new world in front of me it was now time to make my first steps into becoming a prodigy of this world as well. It was almost a neccessity that I needed to grab the amulet first or else this entire world would be doomed to fail.
Knowing this I peddled even harder ready for what life throws my way.
