Chapter 3 - Divergency part 1

It was the immediate darkness that brought him from the abyss , his vision blurry at best so he had no choice but to return to whence he escaped from . Then it hit him , he was supposed to be dead yet there he was , still alive.

With the solitude surrounding him , Avaris was overwhelmed by the own beating of his heart as he came to terms with his situation. All the words , emotions of anger and regret he had felt during his final moments flowed through him as he remembered those who had betrayed him. The thoughtless state he was in left him with one conclusion and that was to escape the place he was within.

The exit was right in front of him but no thanks to the lack of lighting he hit the wall eight times before he found an exit leading to a lighted corridor ."Thank god , that was something I don't want to go through again. Huh? , there's something in my pocket—(he found a pair of enchanted brass knuckles in his pockets)—they could be really useful." And so he carefully moved about checking for traps along the way with ready to throw some hands.

As he kept going , he took a wrong turn and found himself in a showdown with a mage skeleton. Unfortunately he was too late to respond as he was checking what type of spell it was , that by the time he figured out that it was and earth spell he was already inches away from being pulverized. The skeleton rejoiced as it saw it's attack reaching Avaris but stopped in shock as it went through , (Literally).

Seeing an opening he took no chance and threw the meaning right and left hooks he had in his arsenal. And after at least a few minutes all that remained of the skeleton were tidbits of the skull and just the wooden staff it was using."Beat by a measly little human ."

"Wait what the-- , you speak!?. No you are or were a low level monster unless you were about to become...",he was cut off.

"An elder lich , but luckily for both of us I didn't since you destroyed me. Take my staff if you plan on conquering the dungeon , I bet you already know what you need to do.", its voice was growing weaker.

"I am going to break it in half , you sure?",he was wondering why he was speaking so casually with a skeleton.

"It regenerates within an hour so you better hurry. And if we ever meet again let us be allies.",barely audible.

"If we ever diverge from our path then we shall only become a spectre of ourselves.", he said whilst walking away .

"Wise words , you better go now.", the voice then disappeared and the company he had momentarily gained was now gone .

(An hour later...)

"Man who knew that the dungeon boss was going to be a freaking vampire. ", Avaris was gasping for breath , he looked at his surroundings and saw the hordes of vampires and undead fragments he left around the entire boss room. The boss was laying in a dramatic pose with one stake in the heart and the other steak in the forehead. Just as he was relaxing the felt the dark ominous presence he had felt when he first entered the room appear again.

"You thought you could kill me that easily human. Ha! ,you are nothing but a mortal . Awaken my legions of undead , prosper in battle once more." ,the vamp said , still acting dramatically.

"I don't have time for this .", Avaris simply drove the stake further and it finally disappeared into nothing.

(TZZZZZ-WHOOSH-TZZZN)

A massive surge of electricity rose from where he was and for once he had a smile as he recognized the manifestation of a vortex. He picked up the broken staff pieces and rejoined them and stepped through the portal.

Without even exiting he was in paramount joy to be able to smell the fresh earthly air but then...

"Gloomy mood , dim lighting , dark ages vibe. Oh come on , I'm in another dungeon again!!!"

"Excuse me who are you talking to?" ,just behind him the mysterious voice came from.

"Heh?, who the heck are you!?".
