The softness of her thighs was comfortable to say the least, but I'm glad I could trust her to watch over the device. I really should come up with a name for this thing at some point soon.
Calling it the device all the time can be quite annoying after awhile.
That'll be a tomorrow issue or some other day in the week, for now I need to get some rest. It was a long day and we dealt with a lot of fighting with that gang Silvin.
Mason eventually dozed off to sleep for awhile as Vae kept her eyes on the device before her. Nothing seemed to happen to it as the night went on, only a few hours had gone by.
He finally woke up to give her a chance to sleep but realized she kind of fell asleep herself. "Vae?" He whispers.
Yeah she's definitely asleep but it's perfectly okay because nothing seems to be going on with the device after all. He messes with the device in his hand as he looks at, all while still laying on her lap.
I'll have a decent bit of work to do before I can say that the device is good to go for the rest of the journey. Maybe some final adjustments will do the trick tomorrow before we go.
He stayed up while keeping an eye on it until the sun began to shine in through the window, lighting up the room. Everyone was still asleep except for him so he decided to sit up and start making the adjustments now.
There's a lot of things that I don't know in this world and there's a lot that I wish I could change sooner. Incapable of using magic, this is my only possible way to get the closest way to doing it.
A replication at best isn't going to beat the real thing but I sure as hell can try my hardest to do something with it.
Mason eventually ends up tightening some of the loose components on the device that were causing the effects from before. The strange glowing that occured was something he never seen before but now it made sense.
Certain parts needed extra care since they were delicate and couldn't be left as loose as they were.
Skipping over something like this is not like me so I must've been distracted or thinking about a different part of it. It should work better without us having to watch over it now.
I'm happy that I know how to tinker with things like this or else this would be a lot worse. I was definitely raised by great parents but what else can I truly do with this thing?
It helped me free Aria back in that cave but I haven't really been able to do much with it since then. I've purely relied on my combat skills that I learned from dad and a bit from Lucy.
There's no telling when I'll actually need it to fight against someone so what else can it be used for? It's supposed to help me blend in so that I'm not discovered by the guards.
Most can usually tell if someone has magic capabilities or not since there's generally some sort of insignia on the person. I don't have one period, but that doesn't mean I'm screwed just yet.
His thoughts are interrupted by the voice of Aria as she begins to speak to him. "Messing with that thing again?" She questions.
"Yeah. I needed to adjust some things before I could put it away." Mason responds while sliding it back into his pocket.
Aria saw me tinker with it for quite some time before we started traveling and honestly it's not easy to do. The slightest mistake can break this whole thing without any sort of hesitation.
"Does it work any better now?" Aria questions with a bit of curiosity in her voice.
He stands up as he prepares to speak. "It definitely should, I'm not sure though. I'll have to try it out when the opportunity arises again." Mason answers as he turns to peek out the window.
It was beautiful outside and this time I didn't hear a bunch of people talking about the issues of the kingdom. I'm positive that there is still plenty of problems but at least for right now there isn't any that we should bother with.
The gang known as Silvin was shook up enough to leave everyone alone but there's no telling if they'll come after us eventually. Most people probably would have suggested that I should kill them but it doesn't solve everything.
Needless violence isn't always the way to go if you want the world to change for the better.
Aria joins him over by the window and they enjoy the view for awhile as Vae sleeps peacefully. "At least we all got some sleep. We'll be back on the road soon right?" Aria asks with a little bit of excitement in her voice.
"Yes we will." Mason replies with a bit of excitement himself.
I'm excited to see more of the world, even if it's against me. There's so much out there for me to explore and the path ahead is a rough one but I know I'll get stronger.
I need to get strong enough to get past the mages of the world. If I can beat them, then maybe I can pave a path for the normal people of the world.
Giving way for a new generation of people to live once again after so many years. Everyone deserves to live in this world, even if it's got it's dark times.
We'll perceiver through it all together, that's what matters.
Vae finally wakes up after another hour passes and they begin to clean up the room. It was almost time to get back on the road after an eventful two days in the kingdom.
"Where will we go next?" Vae asks with a bit of a curious tone in her voice.
A place my father wrote down in this journal is called Luthiel, maybe something awaits us there.
"Luthiel." Mason says while opening the door.
