Chapter 75
Rhydian didn't mind the climb. The incline was steep, sure, and the rocks under his boots were slick with night dew, but Seraphina was in his arms, and that made everything else irrelevant.
Her cheek rested against his shoulder, warm and relaxed. Every now and then, her breath tickled his neck. Every now and then, her fingers shifted slightly around his collar, like she wasn't quite asleep but didn't want to let go either.
And he didn't want her to.
He could walk like this forever.
The night air cooled his skin, but her presence was like heat wrapped around him. Steady, anchoring. God, he loved her. He didn't know how to say it without sounding like a fool, but it pulsed in every inch of him.
He had never once believed he was capable of falling this hard for someone, but she was full proof against that. He could spend years with her and still feel like he hasn't had enough.
