"Welcome back class, I hope you've had some time to chat with your new partners. We have much to discuss considering everything we will be going over this semester."
Some groans were heard from the seats as the professor began to write on the board behind him with big letters, some scribbles were heard next to Dante once more as he glanced slightly to see Iris writing in her book once more, but feeling it'd be better to not deal with the trouble of her angst, he didn't pay too much attention to her.
"We will be going over the basics, from understanding how a spell works, to rehearsing, all the way up to possibly creating a spell of sorts. That is…if any of you are worth the trouble of figuring out how to do such a task."
Some smacks of teeth were heard from the crowd and mumbles about the teacher were said.
"Who does he think we are?"
"He thinks he's so special, we'll show him."
"Honestly."
Dante peered at the writing on the board, trying his best to understand it, yet none of the spell business made any sense to him in the slightest. Iris on the other hand continued to scribble in her book as the professor went on.
"When it comes to spells, they come from multiple decades of magical research, recorded and documented frequently over the years by researchers and mages alike. Not only from the human mind but also other creatures and races…elves, dwarves, beast folk, sprites, you name it." he continued as his chalk in hand continued to write quickly onto the board.
"There are many things you could learn from doing a little bit of research. While everyone seems to be pretty used to just saying the words and casting whatever spell they want. Truly understanding what you're casting can change a good spell into a great spell." he then turned to the class as an example was written on the board, the details in his penship were extraordinary as it was written fluently and precisely. The details showed some words and a symbol next to it, which seemed to be a water sign.
He pointed with his cane to the board and asked a question among the students.
"Which of you students could tell me what spells you can cast in this element…?"
"Uh, water spells, that's pretty obvious isn't it?"
"Yes, but what are some of the different spells you can cast?"
Some voices from the crowd began to chip in, stating all of the water spells they could think of, from Water Burst to Hydro Basin. The class had a broad knowledge of what you could cast in the water class. The professor nodded along as he wrote whatever the class could come up with, though it was noticeable that there were only low to mid-level spells that were being listed on the board.
"You all have a somewhat broad idea of the spell chart, when it comes to water-based spells. Though it'll need to be much better than this if you plan on passing this semester.". His cane hit the board sharply and the sound of the smack caused some of the students to jump in surprise.
"I'll be making sure you all have the knowledge you need to finish out this course and get out of this forsaken rank. Especially if I'm teaching you, I won't stand for complacency. Do I make myself clear?"
"Yes sir…"
"Good. Now, onto our assignments for the semester."
