A dimmed light filled the room as tapping was heard from one of the rooms in Eagle House. The taps continued until a sudden stop, ceasing the noise almost immediately. Dante's eyes opened slightly as he was met with the room's ceiling in view. He wasn't used to it, but he tried to adjust his sleeping position, much to no avail. Sitting up from the bed, he looked around silently as he panned the room. A round-shaped clock sat on the wall and made small ticks as each passing second went by.
Dante lay his head back on the soft pillows, placing his arms behind his head. Pondering the day that had transpired, he began to contort his face. The thought of one person filled his head.
"There's no way I can work with him! He can barely cast a spell!"
"I didn't need that help whatsoever, thank you!"
"Don't…try to associate yourself with me…okay?"
The sound of her voice swirled in his mind and only frustrated him more, seemingly upset at not only her attitude but her in general.
"I don't get that girl! All I'm tryin' to do is make conversation, and she acts like I'm the scum on her shoe. This is the worst!"
He threw the pillow at the wall in frustration, he didn't want to act this way, as he'd try to at least be cordial with her, but she seemed to be feeling unresponsive to the attempts. Frustration lingered within him until he took a moment to breathe and consider his options.
"...There's no way of avoiding her…we're partners for the foreseeable future…"
"I have to make it work if I wanna progress…yeah that sounds about right."
"If I can work with her, I'm sure I can work with anyone! Now you're thinkin'."
He thought to himself for a bit more, as her voice kept replaying in his head. Though the sound of her constant withdrawals and avoidances seemed to bother him more and more.
"Why'd I have to get stuck with someone like her…this blows."
He put his hands on his face as he bent down and sighed heavily. Rita had prepared him for many things he'd face, but not social interaction with someone who wanted nothing to do with him. He stood up and walked over to the window, it was a square shape and had a view of the courtyard where they had taken the test previously. His eyes wandered as there were some students still walking about before dusk, talking with one another and seeming to be happy being together.
His face scrunched at the thought and he let out another sigh, wishing for the same companionship, though seeing the others gave him a sense of motivation to try and work things out with Iris, not only for the grade but for a possible friendship. He always wanted to make friends his age, though he never considered this would be his hardest obstacle as Terra and Xavien were already his friends. He wanted to make a new one, all on his own.
