Chapter 118 - Chapter 120: Astounding Wisdom!

Chapter 120: Astounding Wisdom!

On a picturesque island, a private jet slowly descended and landed.

The person who stepped off the aircraft didn't linger but moved with clear intent toward a villa on the island.

As he passed an open space, he paused and glanced to the side.

A standard Federation military-painted GM was kneeling there, its monitor still lit—indicating that a pilot was inside, remaining on alert.

"Everything should be fine, right? The nearby waters?"

He inquired of his attendant.

"No issues. The navy has submarines monitoring the area, and there are also aquatic-type Gundams patrolling."

Though he nodded in acknowledgment, the mention of the navy caused a flicker of unease on his face that did not subside.

However, upon hearing the word "Gundam," he visibly relaxed.

Clearly, this was someone unfamiliar with military matters—otherwise, he wouldn't have let his guard down so soon.

Setting such trivialities aside, the man quickened his pace and entered the villa.

He moved through the interior with practiced ease, heading directly to the underground conference room.

The attendant at the door pushed it open for him, and he strode in as if it were second nature.

Above the conference table, the words "European Ecological Reconstruction Plan" were prominently displayed.

Yet, the people inside were not engaged in discussion. Instead, each appeared deep in thought.

Seated at the head of the table, a man nodded at the newcomer before formally commencing the meeting.

"The Revil faction is gaining more and more power. This time, they even signed a peace treaty with Zeon on behalf of the Federation."

"If this continues, the Federation's citizens will only recognize Revil, not the Federation Parliament."

Before the speaker could finish, someone slammed the table, clearly enraged.

Yet, the head of the meeting remained unperturbed, merely raising a hand to calm the outburst.

"The reason I've gathered you all here today is simple—I want us to unite against Revil."

His words were blunt, and those seated around the table reacted with varied expressions.

"Revil, for all his faults, was the one who drove Zeon away and safeguarded my assets. I'd rather not be seen as ungrateful."

A middle-aged man wearing gold-rimmed glasses spoke up.

The leader of the meeting ignored him.

Sitting at this table while making such remarks? Clearly, he was just fishing for greater benefits.

"Rest assured, I don't intend to target the esteemed General Revil. I simply want the general to remain a general and for the Federation Parliament to fulfill its proper role—reining in the increasingly unchecked Federation military."

With those words, the atmosphere in the room shifted, growing more engaged.

After a brief round of discussion, the leader finally revealed his true intent.

"General Revil is concerned about the remaining Zeon forces wreaking havoc on the Earth Federation, and we fully support that concern. We must ensure the old general isn't overworked—so we, too, should back the establishment of such forces."

"In that case, the power of private enterprises is indispensable."

A man with ties to Anaheim Electronics stood up, echoing the leader's sentiment.

The discussion continued for some time, and as the meeting concluded, the leader left the conference room and contacted another individual.

"So, it's settled then, Admiral Gihren?"

Meanwhile, in space, those aboard White Base remained unaware of what was unfolding on Earth.

Eli had returned to the ship and was en route back to Luna II.

After explaining to the others that Sayla had left on a classified mission, Eli retreated to his quarters in silence.

In the span of a short time, he had lost both his mobile suit and his beloved.

Fortunately, Sayla hadn't truly left him forever.

Sighing, Eli once again powered on the tablet Arthur had given him.

Displayed on the screen was General Revil's latest order.

Reports had surfaced of Zeon remnants—former Principality soldiers who had refused to integrate into the Republic of Zeon and were now operating as rogue Zeon forces. There had already been multiple cases of their attacks.

To combat this, General Revil had established an independent force under his direct command—a battalion-sized unit primarily composed of MS teams tasked with eliminating Zeon remnants equipped with mobile suits.

To enhance their operational effectiveness, this unit had been granted limited personnel transfer authority. This meant that, upon obtaining General Revil's approval, they could requisition local military forces for joint operations and assume command as needed.

Additionally, local garrisons were required to provide logistical support, including resupply and maintenance.

As the undisputed ace of the Federation and newly promoted, Eli had been selected as one of the unit's squadron leaders.

However, there was a slight peculiarity—his squadron consisted of only two MS teams, meaning his entire force, including himself, amounted to just eight mobile suits.

In exchange, however, Eli's squadron was the only one among the three assigned a Pegasus-class warship.

He sighed.

The mission briefing hadn't specified the name of the ship, which meant either it hadn't been decided yet, or it was a newly constructed vessel still under strict information control.

In either case, the likelihood of continuing operations alongside White Base's crew seemed slim.

Still, as long as White Base remained operational, Bright and the others wouldn't suffer the same fate as in the original timeline—where they were suppressed by the Federation.

Eli blinked a few times before standing up and opening the door.

Outside, Amuro was standing there.

He, too, was holding a tablet, likely containing his own mission briefing.

However, the first thing Amuro said wasn't about his orders.

"Eli-san, Christina rejected me."

For the first time in a long while, Eli heard Amuro refer to Christina by her full name instead of a more affectionate form.

The young warrior who had faced countless battles now stood with reddened eyes, seeking comfort from Eli.

"She said she only sees me as a little brother."

Amuro lowered his head, his fists clenched tightly.

For as long as he could remember, Amuro had hated being treated as a child.

Yet, when it came to Christina and Eli, he had accepted their care.

Unsurprisingly, Christina's nurturing nature had quickly drawn them close—yet that very closeness made it impossible for Amuro to deepen their relationship any further.

"Eli-san, I'm going to military academy. I will become an adult."

It was only then that Eli noticed the contents of the tablet in Amuro's hands.

It was a recommendation for Amuro Ray's enrollment in the military academy.
