"My only concern right now," Alex mused, his voice laced with casual indifference, though his furrowed brow betrayed deeper contemplation, "is that Arthur isn't wasting so much time trying to leech power from Angel. If he just focused, we could finally get her back to her family where she belongs." He exhaled softly, as if lost in thought, his gaze momentarily distant.
Riley, sensing the shift in mood, let out a quiet breath, feeling some of her own tension ease.
Without a word, she moved towards one of the plush seats in the dimly lit room and lowered herself into it, her eyes never leaving Alex. After a moment, she spoke, her voice measured but firm.
"Alex, you know Tryson," she said, watching him closely. "There are certain things he would never overlook, and if he ever finds out that you betrayed him..." She hesitated for a split second, letting the weight of her words settle. "What do you think he'll do?"
