Los Angeles Tech University Dormitory:-

After a long, day of exams, Alice was ready to collapse into bed and sleep. She pushed open the door to her dorm room, dreaming of soft pillows and quiet.

But the moment she stepped inside, her plans were interrupted. There was her best friend, Nicole, standing in the middle of the room.

She was dressed—or rather, barely dressed—in just her underwear, with a thin, white, see-through shawl slipping off one shoulder.

In her arms, she clutched a textbook, her face crumpled like she was about to burst into tears. She looked miserable, as if life itself had given up on her.

Nicole had always been bold with her clothing choices in the dorm. Alice had seen it all before—half-dressed chaos was just Nicole's style.

And the dramatic, teary-eyed breakdowns? Those were old news too. Alice sighed, already used to the routine.

Nicole's outfit barely clung to her slim frame, the shawl fluttering as she shifted her weight. Her messy hair stuck out in every direction, probably from hours of stressing over her books.

"What's with that face?" Alice asked, dropping her bag by the door.

Her voice was casual, though she couldn't hide the tiny smirk tugging at her lips. She leaned against the wall, crossing her arms, ready for the usual meltdown.

Nicole's reaction was instant. She flung the textbook onto the bed with a loud thud and leaped to her feet.

Her eyes were wide and watery as she rushed toward Alice, arms flailing like she was about to tackle her.

"Alice! I think I totally bombed the exam! What do I do? What if I fail? I can't fail, I just can't! Waaah…" Her voice cracked as she wailed, her hands reaching out for a hug.

"Oh," Alice replied flatly, her tone dripping with sarcasm. She raised an eyebrow, unimpressed.

A black cloud of annoyance hovered over her head as she watched Nicole's theatrics unfold.

The girl's bare feet slapped against the wooden floor, and her shawl trailed behind her like a sad little ghost.

Alice knew better than to take it seriously. Nicole always cried about "failing" after every test, yet somehow, from freshman year to their current junior year, she'd never flunked a single class. It was almost annoying how perfect her grades were.

Meanwhile, actual failing students probably wanted to strangle her for whining like this. With a grunt, Alice shoved Nicole back before she could cling to her.

"Alright, enough. I know how you are," she said, brushing her hands off like she'd touched something sticky.

Nicole stumbled back a step, her lower lip trembling. Her big, pleading eyes followed Alice as she tried to regain her balance, the shawl slipping even further down her arm.

"Go sit down," Alice ordered, pointing to the bed. "I just returned those expensive snacks—worth thousands—to their owner. And guess what? She didn't even ask you to pay for the piece you ate. So relax already."

She walked over to her desk, kicking off her shoes as she went. The room smelled faintly of Nicole's lavender lotion, mixed with the stale air of too many study hours.

"Really?" Nicole's face lit up like a kid on Christmas morning. Her voice jumped an octave, full of hope.

"Really," Alice confirmed, tossing her jacket onto a chair. She didn't bother looking back, already expecting the next outburst.

"Awesome! Alice, you're the best! Alice is amazing!" Nicole cheered, popping up from the bed again like a spring-loaded toy. Her sudden energy made the mattress creak, and she clapped her hands together in excitement.

Alice spun around fast, stepping back with a glare. "Sit down! And keep your hands to yourself!" she snapped, pointing a finger like a strict teacher. She wasn't in the mood for another hug attack.

Nicole plopped back onto the bed with a pout, her legs dangling over the edge. She tilted her head up, resting her chin in her hands as she studied Alice. "You seem happy today," she said, her voice softer now. "Normally, you'd smack me for acting like this." A sly grin crept onto her face, her eyes sparkling with mischief. The textbook slid off the bed and hit the floor with a dull thump, forgotten.

Ha, at least you're self-aware, Alice thought, smirking inwardly. She rolled her eyes in a playful, flirty way and sat down next to Nicole. The bed dipped slightly under her weight, and she brushed a strand of dark hair behind her ear. "I was late to my exam today," she began, her tone lighter now. "Professor Montbaton was proctoring, but—get this—she didn't even scold me. And then, out of nowhere, she smiled at me. Weird, right?"

Nicole's jaw dropped. "The old hag? No way! She never smiles! Nobody's ever seen that!" Her voice was loud, almost a shout, as she leaned forward in shock. Her shawl fell completely off one shoulder now, pooling around her elbow.

"Hey, watch your mouth," Alice scolded, though her lips twitched with amusement. "That's rude." She nudged Nicole's arm gently, her fingers brushing against the soft fabric of the shawl.

"But everyone calls her that!" Nicole huffed, crossing her arms. "She's always got that sour face, and she freaks out over the tiniest things…" Her voice trailed off as she mimicked Montbaton's stern glare, puffing out her cheeks for effect. The room felt warmer now, filled with their easy chatter and the faint hum of the heater in the corner.

At Villa:Lemu now sat alone in a big, empty villa, the kind that felt too quiet and too cold without anyone else around. Tony Stark, his flashy friend, had whisked Pepper off for a romantic getaway, leaving Lemu behind with nothing but the sound of the ocean for company. He perched on a chair by the window, listening to the waves crash against the shore. The sound was steady, almost hypnotizing, as if the sea was whispering secrets to him.

Outside, the water churned and rolled, layer after layer, stretching out until the horizon turned pale under the fading night sky.

Lemu stayed there all night, his dark hair ruffled by the breeze sneaking through a crack in the glass. The villa smelled faintly of salt and wood polish, its silence broken only by the rhythmic roar of the tide.
