Chapter 89 - An Era of Geniuses

Just one chapter again

During a break, Arima answered some of Yoruichi's questions.

Yoruichi didn't mind whether she fully understood the answers.

When she saw Urahara Kisuke, she passed along the information she had gathered from Arima.

Urahara Kisuke was pleased to have his questions answered, but soon became anxious.

"Yoruichi-sama, are you sure it's okay to share this with me without Teacher Arima's permission?" Kisuke asked, his unease evident. He was aware of the delicate nature of the answers, especially regarding Shunkaku's learning methods and the philosophy behind Kidō.

This time, Yoruichi had even conveyed her concerns to Arima directly.

Urahara Kisuke was unsure how Arima would react to the situation. A man who could be questioned by the head of the Shihouin family was no ordinary person.

Although Urahara Kisuke was clever, his background as a member of a lower-ranking noble family made him hesitant to overstep any boundaries. In Soul Society, only strength could give one confidence. Without it, even someone as smart as Kisuke would feel inferior.

Unlike Urahara Kisuke, Yoruichi was nonchalant. She waved her hand dismissively and said, "Kisuke, don't worry so much. Do you really think Teacher Arima didn't know when I asked those questions? He knew exactly what I was after."

She smiled, adding, "In fact, after I asked, he still gave me the answers. That shows he didn't mind."

Though Yoruichi appeared carefree, she was perceptive and thoughtful. Her ability to blend into the shadows and conduct covert operations came from this sharpness. Her words were deliberate, revealing her careful observation of Arima's character.

She continued, "If you run into problems in the future, let me know, and I'll ask Teacher Arima for you. Trying to solve everything on your own can be difficult."

Urahara Kisuke looked at Yoruichi for a long moment, then whispered, "Master Yoruichi, thank you."

Yoruichi waved it off, her tone as carefree as ever, "No need to thank me. We're friends."

In the original timeline, Yoruichi and Urahara Kisuke lived together, with Kisuke taking the lead. However, in Soul Society, the dynamic was different, with Yoruichi in charge. Kisuke considered himself her future retainer.

Their friendship began by chance. Both of them were the same age, and Kisuke's family was a lesser noble, serving the Shihouin family. Their contrasting personalities—Yoruichi's cheerfulness and Kisuke's more reserved nature—led to an unexpected yet deep bond.

In recent years, there had been few changes in Soul Society's leadership, and the casualty rate among Shinigami had decreased significantly. This was partly due to Kenpachi, the captain of the 11th Division, who had become Gotei 13's sharpest sword.

Kenpachi was unable to change the noble system, as he was just one person against many, but he had the strength to eliminate all Menos Grande that invaded Soul Society.

Thanks to Arima's teachings, Kenpachi had come to understand the deeper truth of the world and the balance of souls. But this realization had brought disappointment. He had accepted that humans could not be changed, nor could Hueco Mundo be destroyed. As long as humans lived and desires existed, Hollows would continue to emerge, and Menos Grande would invade, causing suffering.

However, this understanding had given Kenpachi the strength to bear the responsibility that came with his position. The name "Kenpachi" carried more weight than ever before, and Kenpachi's growing reputation among Shinigami reflected this.

With time, the era of the Kenpachi seemed to pass. Only the oldest Shinigami remembered the seventh-generation Kenpachi. The eighth-generation Kenpachi, Sōya Kenpachi, was taciturn but highly respected for his ability to eliminate Menos Grande.

For Shinigami, time felt irrelevant. It seemed like just yesterday that Yoruichi and Urahara Kisuke had enrolled in the Spiritual Arts Academy. Now, they had graduated and joined the Second Division.

After their departure, the biggest change for Arima was that he could no longer see them in class. But he still occasionally visited Yoruichi at the Shihouin estate to teach her.

Yoruichi had become a true Shinigami, but her journey was just beginning.

With their graduation, Yoruichi's era in the academy had ended, but a new genius emerged. His name was Kōga.

Born a commoner, Kōga had unparalleled talent. In just one year, he completed most of the Spiritual Arts Academy's courses, quickly skipping grades and becoming a senior student. His rise in the academy made him a prominent figure in no time.

Arima didn't pay much attention to Kōga, but the name itself caught his interest. "Kōga," he murmured. Yoruichi knew him too. During one of her lessons with the Shihouin family, she casually mentioned him.

"Kōga?" Yoruichi said, "He won't keep that name for long. The Kuchiki family is interested in him."

Yoruichi's casual remark hinted at a deeper connection, but Arima could tell that something significant was about to unfold in Soul Society.
