"Hello… Miss, are you alright?" Rainer's voice was calm, even as he continued holding the girl in his arms.
The girl remained silent for a moment before her face reflexively turned red.
"A-Ah… y-yes…" she answered, her tone slightly nervous.
Rainer let out a small sigh. "Good."
However, before he could set her down, his combat instincts picked up on the movements around him.
From the corner of his eye, he saw the kidnapper who had fallen earlier slowly getting back on his feet.
Not only that—other shadows began emerging from the darkness of the alley.
Rainer narrowed his eyes.
"Haaah… this is going to take some time."
Before him, several cloaked figures approached, their weapons glinting under the dimming evening light.
Their expressions were cold, but their movements were too relaxed for people who were supposed to be serious about a fight.
Rainer realized something—they weren't attacking immediately.
'They're toying with me.'
