Suddenly, the voice vanished.
The silence that followed was deafening, as if reality itself had paused for a brief moment. Lucas's breath hitched, his senses sharpened, but nothing happened. No final words, no lingering echoes—just a void where the presence had once been.
Then, without warning, the slime in front of him lurched forward.
It tried to shift into its humanoid form, its body stretching, molding—but something was wrong. A strange glitch flickered through its transformation, like a distorted image struggling to load properly. Its upper body began to take shape—a faint outline of a woman, incomplete and flickering with static-like distortions—before it suddenly froze mid-transformation.
"I fail…" the slime murmured, its voice weak, almost defeated.
Then, in an instant, it collapsed back into its round, jelly-like form. The eerie tension evaporated, replaced by its usual, harmless wobble.
Lucas, still tense, exhaled sharply. "What the hell was that…?"
