Michael turned to Selene to have her convince Xavier. "Surely you can talk some sense into him. This is a dangerous game your husband will be playing, so it's better to have someone like me at his side."
"I don't know you well enough to trust you with my husband. You can have motives you are hiding and betray my husband once you get what you were after," said Selene.
"I do have a motive," Michael revealed. "Darius's plans clash with my plans because of the woman I am currently with. She is a mixed-blood, so you can see where I have a problem with Darius."
When the king didn't want to acknowledge mixed-bloods as vampires, it placed Michael in a difficult position.
"I am going to keep the peace between purebloods, mixed-bloods, and humans. The others aren't going to do the same. You haven't been in the palace since I arrived to hear the bright ideas they have come up with. Take a visit there and see the other options," Michael suggested.
