Monday, the sky was just beginning to dawn when Guo Kunnan woke up.
The noise of getting out of bed disturbed the neighboring bed's Hu Jun. Hu Jun opened his eyes in confusion, "Brother Nan, why are you getting up so early?"
Guo Kunnan said solemnly, "I'm going to the classroom to study!"
Hu Jun, "Really?"
Guo Kunnan perked up, "What you do in April and May, you'll see the results in July and August!"
Hu Jun, "?"
Guo Kunnan washed his face, brushed his teeth, and headed straight to the classroom.
The campus was unusually quiet in the early morning, and Guo Kunnan walked on the flower-and-grass-filled path, greedily taking a breath and enjoying the empty school grounds.
Guo Kunnan gazed toward the sunrise in the east, reflecting on his past life—a life of mediocrity, without ever living in the glory of flowers and applause.
Always the shadows of those more successful, he remained below the stage clapping, a mere backdrop.
