The village chief was taken aback; he had just mentioned it casually, and yet this young Lord actually brought it up.

Cao Xing gestured to Old Mel and his daughter, Eliza, beside him.
At the start of the battle, Eliza had been frightened silly while following Cao Xing.
Luckily, the hunters were targeting Cao Xing.
After the initial scare, Eliza quickly slipped out of the crowd to join Old Mel.
The two of them then hid in a corner, not daring to come out.
Cao Xing said, "Old Mel and his daughter are going to join my territory."
"They will leave Hog Village with their cattle and sheep, but I've heard that villagers from Hog Village need the village chief's approval to leave, so..."
Hearing this, the village chief hesitated.
He turned to Old Mel and asked, "Mel, do you really want to follow this Lord to his territory?"
