Zhizheng Year, the Yellow River breached, and the court conscripted a million labourers to repair the Yellow River and manage the flooding. However, with rampant corrupt officials, the labourers were treated like livestock; many were injured or killed. If a labourer dared to protest, they were crushingly suppressed by the court's armies.
In such a context, a group of labourers digging in the Yellow River channel unearthed a one-eyed stone man with an inscription: "Do not say the stone man has only one eye; stirring the Yellow River will revolt the whole world!"
By then, in May, Han Shantong and Liu Futong gathered thousands to kill a white horse and a black ox, swearing an oath to start a rebellion.
They wore red scarves on their heads as a sign, hence they were known as the Red Turban Army.
From that point, the end of the Great Yuan saw a grand uprising; the world fell into chaos, and heroes emerged; it was the rebellion that truly shook the foundations of the Great Yuan.
