He couldn't be like those well-known politicians who, even by merely farting in public, would have the media reporting "A prominent politician makes loud noises in public" to inform the people.
And he wasn't famous. Even if he did make the newspapers, people wouldn't know who he was, nor would they be left with a lasting impression.
