Chapter 192 - Chapter 191: The God of Death

Four hundred years ago, the Six Great Gods descended into the world.

When they discovered that humanity was the most inferior race, they used their divine powers to eliminate numerous other races and taught humans magic, enabling them to shed the label of being a lesser species.

With the emergence of magic, human warriors also began to develop combat techniques, as humanity's population grew and individuals innovated new skills.

Of the Six Great Gods, five were human. Unable to escape the ravages of time, each of them succumbed to old age after living for over a century.

The only non-human among them, the God of Death, was the sole immortal. However, despite his longevity, he envied the other five gods.

As the saying goes, what one cannot have is often the most desirable.

The God of Death, incapable of engaging in intimate relationships due to his skeletal form, longed deeply to experience the pleasures of a mortal man.

Though he was constantly surrounded by maids—loyal servants who would agree to anything he wished—his inability to partake in such experiences left him feeling tormented. He described his existence as akin to that of a eunuch.

After the other five gods passed away, the God of Death attempted to transform their bodies into undead, intending for them to understand his pain.

However, the undead they became were nothing more than mindless puppets, with strength equivalent to ordinary undead beings.

This left the God of Death feeling hollow and lonely.

Despite the maids using their softest parts to gently clean his skeletal body, pampering him to an extreme degree, he found it all meaningless without the ability to experience that which he most desired.

Thus, the God of Death began conducting experiments, researching ways to grow a new "organ."

However, within the Slane Theocracy, he found it impossible to conduct his experiments in peace.

Every day, countless people came to seek his guidance, asking him to teach them the secrets of necromancy.

Many of these visitors were simply curious to witness the legendary visage of the God of Death, with no true intent to learn.

This constant disturbance left the God of Death increasingly frustrated, yet his pursuit of fulfillment and purpose continued unabated.

The constant disturbances left him utterly exasperated, so the God of Death declared to the Slane Theocracy that he would go into seclusion.

No one knew how many years passed during his secluded experiments. Eventually, the Eight Greed Kings descended. The God of Death directly dispatched an army of undead to challenge them. However, during this confrontation, he saw a reflection of himself and his former teammates in the Eight Greed Kings.

"They're players too!"

Realizing he had offended them, the God of Death chose to flee, quietly leaving the Slane Theocracy without a word.

Contrary to his expectations, no retaliation came. The Eight Greed Kings did not attack the Slane Theocracy but instead chose to challenge the legendary dragon race.

Back in the days of the Six Great Gods, the God of Death and his companions had considered challenging the dragons. However, knowing they only had one life, they opted to avoid provoking such a dangerous foe.

Using his World-Class Item, the God of Death observed the entire battle between the Eight Greed Kings and the dragons. Both sides suffered devastating losses.

However, the Eight Greed Kings turned the tide of battle with their resurrection items. The Dragon Emperor also used his primordial magic, though for some unknown reason, it failed to take effect.

In the end, the Eight Greed Kings annihilated the dragons who had challenged them. Later, internal strife broke out among the Eight Greed Kings, leading to their complete annihilation.

After learning what had transpired, the God of Death concluded that the internal conflict among the Eight Greed Kings was caused by the Dragon Emperor's primordial magic.

This magic was also effective against him, as a member of the previous group of otherworldly travelers.

Moreover, the God of Death lacked any resurrection items to save himself. Death for him was final.

Thus, he began conducting experiments in secrecy. To avoid drawing attention, he established an underground organization called Zurrernorn.

He gathered a group of like-minded humans interested in research and taught them how to create his custom artifact, the Orb of Death.

When death energy accumulates, the Orb of Death summons a Bone Dragon.

For human magic casters, a Bone Dragon is a formidable foe. For players, however, it's just a pile of animated trash.

After creating the Orb of Death, he ensured Zurrernorn members had the means to protect themselves. If someone capable of defeating a Bone Dragon appeared, the God of Death would receive the news and retreat in advance, suspecting the presence of players.

The fear of death grows with age, and the God of Death was no exception. After witnessing the deaths of the Eight Greed Kings, he became even more terrified of dying.

As a result, he disappeared entirely from Zurrernorn's sight. None of its members could locate him. Instead, he initiated contact with them through undead intermediaries. He would provide them with Orbs of Death, while they gathered the materials he needed.

Of course, he didn't hand out Orbs of Death immediately. He categorized his rewards into different levels, placing the Orb of Death at the top.

His experiments evolved into sacrificial rituals, where the life energy of all beings in an area would be gathered into a single individual. If the chosen individual survived the process, the God of Death referred to them as experimental subjects.

He evaluated the effectiveness of his magic based on the condition of these experimental subjects.

Once, the former kingdom of Evileye became his target. This nation had split off from the Slane Theocracy and was formed by a small group of humans.

These people were not part of the first generation of the Slane Theocracy, had not witnessed its history, and disliked the constant indoctrination. They sought to break away and establish a nation of their own.

Tens of thousands of people endured immense hardships before finally finding a habitable land far from the fanatics of the Slane Theocracy.

To those without faith, people with extreme religious beliefs appeared insane.

Conversely, the Slane Theocracy deemed those without faith as heretics who deserved death.

This group founded their own country, settled in their newfound land, and began building a new life and creating new generations.

The leader of that group became the king of their newly established nation. The king and queen gave birth to a daughter, and her name was Evileye.

As an undead being, the God of Death gradually lost his humanity. Killing people became an action devoid of any emotional burden for him.

Thus, the God of Death initiated a sacrificial ritual targeting Evileye's kingdom. The life force of everyone in the kingdom was gathered into the young princess, Evileye.

However, the result was not what the God of Death had hoped for. Evileye was merely transformed into a vampire.

What the God of Death truly desired was for the individual imbued with life energy to grow a certain male organ.

If his experiment succeeded, he planned to make himself the recipient of the life energy, finally enabling him to experience the pleasures he had long yearned for.

......

After being transported back to the ruins of her former homeland, Evileye spent most of her time pondering what demands Peroroncino might make when they met again.

However, Peroroncino had completely forgotten about the promise Evileye had made to him.

At this moment, Peroroncino was preparing to head to the Elven Kingdom.

The only elves in Nazarick were Mare and Aura, but they were far from Peroroncino's type.

He preferred elves with voluptuous figures who wore revealing clothing.

While Evileye and the Blue Roses members were recuperating in this area, a black-robed figure from the distance caught sight of her.

"Huh? Isn't that experimental subject No. 06? She's still alive? What a coincidence! All the other subjects died, but she's managed to survive. Should I capture her for further research?"

The God of Death gazed at Evileye with a look of greed.
