"I am the kingdom's only heir, Prince Zanac Valleon Igana Ryle Vaiself, the future king of this kingdom. Are you sure you want to defy my orders?"
The soldiers exchanged glances, and some began to waver.
The title of "king" in their minds represented the pinnacle of the nation. Disobeying him was akin to defying the entire country, and there would be no good outcome.
Some soldiers tightened their grip on their weapons and began to move forward.
"Brothers, though he is a prince, the kingdom's only heir, he did not have the current king's approval to bring troops here. From the king's perspective, this is treason.
As a prince, he may not face death for treason, but we are different. We are rebels, and our only fate is death!
Why not join me in switching sides? If we side with the princess, we might save our lives."
The officer's words caused the soldiers who were about to take action to stop in their tracks. A few who hadn't paid attention realized that everyone around them was standing still, and they followed suit.
It is common sense for soldiers to follow the crowd; following the majority's decision is always the right choice.
"A soldier should never waver in the face of battle!" Renner said.
Without anyone noticing, Renner had already taken the officer's sword.
"I don't need such weak subordinates!" Renner raised the sword, pointing it at the officer.
The officer looked at Renner, disbelief in his eyes. He had been sincere in his treatment of the princess, yet she pointed a sword at him and called him weak.
In that moment, the officer's anger rose. He realized that his sincerity meant nothing in the eyes of others. Rage filled him, and his courage grew.
"Seize her! Defile her right here, and show her that she shouldn't look down on me!" the officer thought to himself.
As an officer, he was skilled in combat, and now that his weapon had been taken, he believed it was only because he hadn't been prepared, and she had easily disarmed him.
The officer kicked at the sword, then reached for Renner's hand that held it.
But in an instant, Renner swung the sword, severing his hand.
"Your filthy hands aren't worthy of touching me!"
The officer staggered back a few steps in pain and looked at the soldiers behind him.
"Charge!" he shouted.
The soldiers hesitated for a moment, but one bold soldier spoke up.
"Didn't you just say we're rebelling, General?"
"You don't understand! Right now, siding with His Highness the Prince means becoming His personal guards, and your future will be secure. Otherwise, you'll never have a chance to get promoted."
The officer continued, "I promise you all, after this is over, everyone will be promoted by three ranks. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!"
"Will you remain just a nameless soldier, or will you become the respected personal guard of the future king? The choice is yours!"
The officer's words motivated the soldiers.
They all charged towards Renner, their minds filled with images of themselves being promoted and gaining fame.
In the eyes of soldiers, a good general was someone who "fed you well."
This officer had only ensured that his soldiers were fed, but in a kingdom where the common people often went hungry, that alone made him a great person.
The officer still held a certain authority among the soldiers.
They trusted his words without question.
But even the officer didn't believe what he was saying. How could he promote so many people? Where would all these promotions come from?
He was simply so angry that he promised the soldiers anything.
When the time came, he wouldn't keep his promise, and there would be nothing the soldiers could do about it.
The soldiers surrounded Renner.
"Fireball!" Renner casually waved her hand, and a magic circle appeared. A fireball shot toward the soldiers.
The fireball hit the soldier at the front, and the surrounding soldiers instantly died.
The other soldiers hesitated and dared not move forward.
"Where are the spellcasters! Get up here!" The Second Prince shouted.
Dozens of spellcasters quickly moved to the front from the rear.
The spellcasters began casting magic, some using defensive spells while others used offensive ones.
Renner looked at Lakyus, who was anxious because she couldn't revive Tia.
"Light Bullet!" Renner casually waved her hand, and dozens of magic circles appeared in front of her. Energy projectiles made of light shot toward the spellcasters on the Second Prince's side.
The shields created by the defensive magic were immediately shattered, offering no protection. The spellcasters who were casting magic were unprepared and were struck in the head by the light bullets. They fell, one by one.
Half of the spellcasters were instantly killed.
This caused the remaining spellcasters to panic and turn to flee. They were only hired by the prince and had hoped to earn money by casting magic under the protection of the soldiers, but with half of them dead in an instant, they abandoned the idea of making money. After all, money wasn't as important as staying alive.
"Wait! Don't run! I'll pay more!" the Second Prince shouted, but the spellcasters ignored him.
"To get the extra money, you need to be alive first. Staying here is a death sentence. Only a fool would stay," the spellcasters thought to themselves.
With the spellcasters gone, the Second Prince was now completely helpless against Renner. Her magic made it impossible for the soldiers to approach.
"Lakyus! Since you've helped me a lot, let me help you once!" Renner suddenly spoke.
Lakyus and Evileye didn't understand. They both thought Renner was joking. There was no doubt they had become mortal enemies—either one would die, or the other would. Helping? That was obviously a joke.
"Seventh-tier magic: Holy Revival!"
Renner brought her hands together in a prayer-like gesture and whispered with great devotion.
Light, like stars, appeared above her head.
The light gathered together and descended upon Tia's body.
Evileye was about to act, thinking Renner had malicious intentions.
"Don't act, Evileye. This is revival magic. I can feel Tia's life force returning!"
Evileye looked at Renner in disbelief. It was Renner who had killed Tia, and now she was reviving her. Was she playing a game?
Yes, Renner was indeed playing, and the only person she was trying to please was Peroroncino.
