Chapter 23 - chapter 23

Avery woke up to find tears rolling down her cheeks. The memories of that day replaying in her mind. Her body shook as she cried into the pillow she was hugging.

She would soon have to get up out of bed and pretend that she wasn't dying on the inside but she still had half an hour to let out all her sorrows.

She finally rolled out of her bed and walked to the kitchen in her uniform. The usual greetings and scilence followed.

Eventually she made her way to the hero's party same as she had done in the previous month. Every few days she would sprinkle a little bit of mischief powder on the broach making sure it's effects didn't wear off. This infuriated Agatha who was now convinced that someone from the party, mainly Devin, was playing tricks on her in order to humiliate her.

Avery stood guard at her usual spot, Agatha arguing with whichever party member she had decided had pranked her today.

Avery had added just a little bit more mischief powder to that broach today. Her supply was dwindling and she would have to get her hands on some more. This could be tricky as it was illegal in every single nation except for Hagrid ( pronounced hag-reed) which had outlawed magic as well as multiple species entirely.

Agatha threw open the door leading to the lobby with magic and stomped up to Avery. "We're going out " Avery announced," you're the only one in this place who I can stand right now."

"Alright." Avery replied " what would you like to see today?"

"Anything I just want to make myself busy." Agatha stated.

" The harvest market is starting today if you're interested." Avery quickly thought up.

" Great let's go then"

Soon they both found themselves surrounded by rows upon rows of stalls. Every street was lined with people selling various goods. Some even looked like they had set up shop in the middle of the street. Exotic spices and imported goods were common place here, the people selling were just as exotic. A exotic grandure lingered in the air inviting everyone to come see what they could find hidden in its streets.

Unique accents and languages flowed through the air like a river. The scents lingering. The entire town had been turned into a market.

" I didn't expect such a small town to have something like this." Agatha exclaimed.

" Every year, just before the cold season comes, we host the harvest market for one week " Avery started her monologue with Agatha listening.

" We are situated on the border of three different countries with a fourth border just a days travel away. Being the largest town in the area everyone from the surroundings comes to this festival." Avery continued.

" For this reason this market is important for the alliance of the four nations. We are expanding the town to accommodate this and are expected to elevate our status to a city within the next three years." Avery waited for the question.

" Three years!" Agatha exclaimed," that's a very short amount of time to expand and the resources required would be immense."

" Indeed, that's just how important this market is for this nation." Avery finished.

Agatha watched as more and more people arrived and started setting up shop.
