Chapter 35 - Ch.33: Phase 2

Thankfully after taking my time with the first protectron, installing protocols for scavenging, it was considerably easier to do with the rest of them using the copy and paste fuction.

I had added a wide range of items to thier database that contained the components I needed.

Right now my priority was basic stuff like concrete and scrap metal so I can build a secure warehouse over the entrance of my vault.

The bots responsible for bringing back concrete were ordered to find broken sections of sidewalk and any loose bags of powder they can.

The scrap metal bots could tear apart cars and ruined buildings for what they needed.

The rest of the bots were ordered to get everything else of value.

I had the bots start by going southwest back towards ArcJet and only had them target places on the northwest side of Boston for now.

Once the Collectrons got their orders, they scampered off to fetch my materials.

I then opened the new workshop menu and purchased a settlement workbench. I placed it in the cavern next to vault and then browsed the options.

'Hm... look like almost all the building components I had unlocked from F76!' I started vibrating in place in excitement.

I had many good plans unlocked in 76 that could change things for me entirely.

Some things weren't present but it was really important things.

The only downside was that there were things that didn't appear to work the same as in game.

Mostly the item generators didn't produce things out of nothing sadly. They only functioned as a normal fixture.

The butter churn, was just a churn that could be used to make butter. The board games cabinet was just a cabinet filled with board games. They didn't respawn items.

That was fine. The most essential stuff was the buildings, generators and turrets. Everything else was helpful but not really needed.

"Oh neat!" I had found a terrain function which was new.

I could move dirt around inside the settlement borders, allowing me to make things like basements by removing dirt or flatten the ground to build on even surfaces.

The cost of materials for settlement objects was not that high compared to the mass of the object which was really nice.

What made me happy was the option to scrap objects in the settlement. Trees into wood scraps, metal objects into ingots, etc.

And all the material is drawn or placed back into my vault storage which saves me time moving things in and out of the vault from the surface.

"Let's build... but what to build..."

Looking the cavern around my vault door, I decided to open the cavern ceiling up and line the area with concrete. Then build a warehouse on top of a new hidden entrance.

The warehouse would be a place to store my vehicles and robots and would be a considerable size. About 100'x80' with a large sliding door big enough for the vehicles to enter and exit.

A few turrets for security and I doubt anyone would want to come snooping after seeing the defenses.

I had enough materials in my storage to start the build, but I would definitely need the Collectrons to hurry and bring more back.

I started by opening up the roof of the cavern around the original entrance. Then I lined the space with concrete floors, walls and a roof leaving only the entrance open.

I installed new florescent lights hanging down to illuminate the wide space and then installed an elevator in place at the entrance. This was going to be hidden behind a false wall within the warehouse and will be the only access to the vault.

The elevator shaft is encased in concrete and I placed a power door at the bottom that used a keypad. That way if someone did find the elevator and come down there would be one last barrier to pass before even seeing the vault door.

My materials on hand were running short for structural building. I needed that scrap metal and concrete that I had the majority of bots collecting.

With the elevator working, I just needed to build the warehouse around it on the ground level, but the bots will take time to return so I finished messing with the workshop and returned to my lab.

It had already been a few hours I was workshopping, so it was time to check back on Lady.

She was still in the same place I left her, and was completely entranced by the flashing light.

'Her head hasn't exploded, that's a good sign.'

I sat down and waited for the rest of the session and once it was, I shut down the program.

The machine began to dim and then the light went out causing Lady to blink but she remained still.

I removed the helmet and then pulled out a small flashlight and checked her pupils.

They were fully dilated and her gaze didn't settle onto any specific thing.

"Lady. Are you awake?" I asked to probe a response.

"...yes." she said, her voice came out softly with a neutral tone.

"Mhm... and how do you feel?"

She remained still and continued to respond robotically.

"I feel okay."

'Flat response... at least she isnt babbling incoherently or showing violent temperament. That's good.'

I shifted my questions to get a baseline for her current state. Asking about her past experiences and opinions on stuff like her favorite food and such.

She answered everything without emotion or any attempt to distort the truth as if she was an AI reciting a story.

She had no opinions or feelings on anything. She desired and valued nothing. She was robotically content.

I spoke into a microphone on my pipboy and recorded a log.

"Subject Lady has undergone the first phase of C.O.D.E. for Project Winter Soldier. Pupil dilation and dull sensitivity to light noted. Sensitivity likely temporary. Subject responses suggest personality is dulled, in line with program parameters."

I stopped and looked at Lady once again, noting there is no change to her breathing and no hidden micro expressions.

"Subject ready for phase 2."

Phase 1 had corroded her personality and Phase 2 will replace the corroded parts with the the desire to serve her master.

I had used a pro snap camera and took a few selfies then scanned them using the rig.

These pictures will be transmitted into her brain via the optic nerves by using the same flashes of light as before.

This time the light will contain my image along with subliminal messages that will install a sense of purpose to serve me wholeheartedly within her.

By the time the second phase is over, she might remember everything of her life but she will want only to fulfill her duty to me.

I will become her entire reason for living. A true slave that doesnt need a collar to remain obedient.

She will be a soldier that lives or dies for my sake. A worshipper doing the bidding of her god.

*cough* Got a little excited there...

I finished setting up the next phase of the program and put the helmet back on her.

I noticed a single tear slide down her cheek as I initiated phase 2.

The light started and her eyes locked onto it. Her body didn't convulse this time but there was something else.

'She soiled herself... I'll grab the mop...'

Yellow liquid dripped down from the gurney she was still hooked up to.

I mopped the puddle up and then took a warm and damp rag and cleaned her body.

'First thing I'm ordering her to do is bathe. While this is going, I'll pull out some clothes for her.'

Phase 2 was another 3 hour program, so I had plenty of time.

Of all the outfits I had in storage, I wanted to find some that balanced practicality and looks.

There was plenty of casual wear for her to wear but I wanted her adventuring outfits to have a certain aesthetic.

I pictured her at my side looking like Jill Valentine from Resident Evil 5.

Marine wetsuit with a padded harness around her hips and thighs, with sleeves for her throwing knives and a holster for her pistol.

Image here-

'Oh yeah that's gonna look good!' I thought as I looked the female mannequin wearing the outfit I picked out for her.

'I can also get her a stealth suit later as well. But for now this is enough.'
