Chapter 100 - 99: No? Are you actually flying?

Hakuto never expected Nao to actually spend money on that dumb map app.

He looked at the phone she handed him, internally complaining about how casually rich people spend money, then took it with slight annoyance.

"This should be about the spot..."

Hakuto marked a point on the map and handed the phone back to Nao.

Nao took the phone, glanced at the marked location, furrowed her brows at first, then widened her eyes.

"Shiratori, are you sure you marked the right place?"

"Yeah, what's wrong?"

Hearing Hakuto's confident reply, Nao frowned even deeper.

"The location is 32 meters away from you?" Saying that, she threw her phone forcefully to the ground.

"It's just 32 meters! What the hell do you even need a map for? Just take me there to grab the guy!"

"Shhh~ Keep it down! It's only 32 meters. If he hears us, it'll be bad."

"I don't care! You're paying me back for that VIP subscription!"

"I didn't want to buy that VIP! How was I supposed to know you'd act so fast?!"

Hakuto was telling the truth. He only wanted the map to help Nao and Jojiro, who didn't know the location.

The moment he saw that the map app required payment, he was ready to give up on the idea.

Who could have guessed Nao was so decisive? She had topped up the money in just half a minute!

If there were a ranking for speed, Nao would definitely have a place on it.

Bullet train—supersonic—lightspeed—.

While Nao and Hakuto were bickering, Jojiro glanced at the map on her phone, then subtly shifted his gaze to a spot on the right.

An idea began to form in his mind.

It's just 32 meters. With his high-speed movement, he could reach it in an instant.

But it was too dark, and the target was hiding in the shadows. He couldn't see them, and if he miscalculated and missed, he'd startle them. That would be a disaster.

32 meters wasn't too far, but it wasn't exactly close either. He could see the target's movements but definitely wouldn't be able to hear them.

That's why Hakuto was so casual after pinpointing the location.

Right now, in the ability user's eyes, the three of them probably looked like they were just arguing over something trivial.

And the reason the flying ability user was observing from such a close distance was that he wanted to keep an eye on them.

He had come to this mountain to train his ability. Naturally, he didn't want anyone disturbing him.

But Hakuto and the others' arrival had disrupted the environment, so he was keeping a close watch.

At that moment, Hakuto placed a hand on Takajo Jojiro's shoulder and whispered,

"Use your ability to take me there."

Jojiro adjusted his glasses.

"My ability can cause injuries if I'm not careful. I've never tried carrying someone before."

"Relax, my ability is superior to yours..."

Hakuto shot him a confident look—but it barely lasted a second before Nao started pinching his waist.

"Oh fuck! Stop eating pickled radish!!"

"What the hell are you mumbling about?"

"Quit messing around. We're in the middle of something."

Hakuto pried Nao's hand off. Since he was about to move at high speed, he didn't want to risk accidentally hurting her.

Seeing Hakuto's confidence, Jojiro hesitated no longer. He adjusted his glasses again and prepared to activate his ability.

"Turn 90 degrees left, then charge straight ahead. He's hiding behind a tree. Shouldn't be a problem for you."

"I might get hurt, but that's fine. I'm used to it."

"I'll call an ambulance for you."

The moment Hakuto finished speaking, Jojiro made a sharp left turn and activated his ability.

Like arrows released from a bowstring, the two of them shot forward, crashing straight toward their target.

A massive cloud of dust erupted in their wake, accompanied by a deafening noise.

"Whoa!! What just happened?!"

Meanwhile, freshly out of the shower, Yusa was utterly startled by the scene before her. She quickly covered her ears and crouched down.

Nao remained in place, waving the dust away from her face.

"Cough, cough... Looks like we can head back to school early."

"Huh? Huh?"

Before Yusa could even process what Nao meant, she saw her walking straight into the thick dust cloud.

"Wait for me!"

At that moment, a figure shot out of the cloud at high speed, soaring into the sky.

"Did they miss…? No, wait..."

Nao squinted and saw Hakuto hanging onto the flying ability user, barely keeping his grip.

"You idiot! Are you trying to get yourself killed?!"

"You guys were gonna take me to a lab! What the hell do I care about staying alive?!"

"Damn it! Why are you so stubborn?! Can't you be a little more spineless, like Otosaka Yuu?!"

A few minutes later, as the dust settled, Jojiro was lying on the ground with blood trickling from his forehead, while Hakuto sat covered in dirt, his clothes tattered.

But beneath him was another boy, around the same age, pinned firmly to the ground.

"Cough, cough! Takajo, you're a real man!"

"Remember to call the ambulance..."

Hakuto gave Jojiro a thumbs-up. Even though he had been prepared for high-speed movement, he still got banged up.

He couldn't believe Jojiro had resigned himself to getting hospitalized every time he used his ability.

Meanwhile, the boy beneath Hakuto struggled desperately, trying to break free.

"Who are you?!"

"My name is Shiratori Hakuto..."

"What the hell do you want? Why are you pinning me down?"

"Don't play dumb. You're one of the few people in the world who can fly. Of course, I wanna capture you for research."

The moment Hakuto finished speaking, the boy beneath him suddenly convulsed violently, his body trembling in sheer madness.

"I'd suggest you cooperate. Otherwise..."

Having dealt with Otosaka Yuu before, Hakuto had developed a habit of intimidating people right away.

But this time, he might have underestimated his opponent's temper.

"You better let me go right now, or you're seriously gonna regret it!"
