Ronnie and Margaret followed Jennifer into her apartment.
Ronnie noticed several pairs of men's leather shoes neatly placed on the shoe cabinet by the porch.
The lights were off inside the house and the room on the left was tightly closed—Ronnie guessed it was the children's room.
Jennifer led them through the rather small hall to the back of the house, where two windows were covered by thick curtains. Jennifer went over and carefully pulled back the curtains just a crack.
She looked back at them and said, "Don't make too much noise, don't let any light out, just peek through the gap in the curtains."
Ronnie nodded and moved up to the crack in the curtain to look outside.
The back of Jennifer's room faced the rear of Building A, with the front of Building B to the left. From here, one could easily see the windows of several homes in Building A.
