The white dragon fluttered its wings, continually shaking off gray-white ash from its body, leaving a long trail of gray in the sky.
It soared into the sky, folding its wings, and its massive body slowly ceased its ascent. Then, its head and tail reversed direction, diving toward the decayed town below.
Just as Chen Ke thought it would crash onto the streets, the white dragon abruptly spread its wings again, tracing an elegant arc in the air, gliding around to the back of the huge main city, leaving behind only echoes of its roars in this silent kingdom.
Chen Ke lay at the edge of the broken bridge, gazing down at the town below, trying to establish a mental concept of the geographical layout.
The church was built into the mountain, but unlike what Chen Ke had seen from atop the cliff, it was wedged halfway up the mountain, neither reaching the summit nor the base, connected only by a large bridge to the circular city walls.
