Chapter 187: The Glacier Annihilation Battle (Part 4)
The Frost Giants had not yet given up. Noor had left behind one last desperate move—an ultimate gamble to drag their enemy into oblivion: Solem's Winter Avatar.
In the eyes of the despairing Frost Giants, a resolute determination began to gleam.
"Our enemy may destroy our bodies, but they cannot extinguish winter."
"My father, Solem, shall deliver eternal slumber upon this glacier soaked with Frost Giant blue blood."
Over thirty Frost Giant warriors inscribed with Eternal Frost runes snapped ice shards from the glacier and unhesitatingly plunged them into their own chests. They chanted an ancient, somber hymn—more like a curse—infused with the deepest hatred for their tribe's destroyers.
As deep blue blood seeped into the earth through cracks, the glittering glacier roared and trembled violently.
"Enemy of Eternal Frost—"
A furious roar resounded through the skies.
A towering, thirty-meter-high colossus composed of blade-like ice crystals rose from the glacier, standing amidst the snowy expanse. Its face bore a striking resemblance to Kasa, who had perished at the red dragon's hands, yet its every icy surface reflected the varied expressions of the Frost Giant warriors. Clutching an ice crystal double-bladed axe, the giant's face radiated the fury of winter—a manifestation of Eternal Frost Tribe's final will.
Facing the imposing Ice Crystal Giant, Cassius hovered in the air, his wings slicing through the sky as he prepared a spell.
"Faith... what a terrifying thing."
"It can transform a defeated tribe into... this monstrosity."
"But... I wonder if you can withstand my magic?"
As Cassius spoke, thunder erupted from the once-clear sky, shaking the Wahala Glacier.
The Storm King's Eye on his chest flared blindingly, and an unimaginably intense magical surge began. The Weave roared like an ocean in turmoil, its waves towering higher and higher. Countless intricate magical constructs interlocked, nested, and fused to form an extraordinarily complex ninth-circle spell—[Vengeance Storm].
Yet, Cassius's ambition extended far beyond the Ice Crystal Giant.
He sought not only to kill the colossal avatar before him but to obliterate every trace of the Frost Giants' existence on this icy expanse, erasing their civilization utterly.
Thus, the Dragon Sorcerer unleashed even more chaotic, feral magical energy. The violent surge poured forth recklessly, expanding the spell's range and power exponentially.
[Metamagic: Extended Spell]
[Metamagic: Empowered Spell]
Once this process began, it was akin to Pandora's box being flung wide open, impossible to close. Cassius could no longer halt the spell, merely containing himself within it—barely. After all, this was a ninth-circle spell!
The enhanced Vengeance Storm now possessed the potential to destroy an entire nation, truly earning the title of an apocalyptic-level spell.
Cassius smirked viciously as he eyed the Ice Crystal Giant in the distance.
"Forcing me to use such power... you've earned your place."
"Frost Giants, let me see if your final strength can withstand my calamity!"
Above, a massive storm cloud began to swirl into existence around Cassius, gradually spreading over several kilometers of glacier.
Thunder rumbled, lightning flashed, and winds howled through the thick, churning clouds. At the storm's center stood Cassius, like a solitary island amidst the chaos, his position tenuous yet dominant in the tempest of magic.
The terrifying storm clouds expanded frantically, proliferating like a devouring beast intent on swallowing everything on the glacier.
The light of day dimmed as the perpetual summer daylight of the polar region plunged into a false night.
"Enemy of Eternal Frost, I will kill you!"
"I will peel your scales and chew your flesh!"
The Ice Crystal Giant roared to the heavens, devoid of reason, driven solely by the instinct of revenge. It was a creation born of the Frost Giants' final hatred, fused with a sliver of Solem's divine essence. Had it been forged in the prime of the ancient Giant Gods, with hundreds of devout Frost Giants offering sacrifices under Solem's gaze, it might have been hailed as a Divine Spawn.
But now, it was merely a monster.
On the magic-scarce land of Anzeta, with only dozens of Frost Giant sacrifices and a faint trace of divine power, this "Winter Avatar of Solem" had barely achieved the status of a legendary being.
The thirty-meter-tall Ice Crystal Giant charged forward with its massive axe, each thunderous footstep shaking the ground as it advanced toward the red dragon.
"Boom! Boom! Boom!"
The rolling thunder above echoed like war drums, crashing repeatedly through the heavens.
The deafening waves of sound, potent enough to kill mere mortals outright, bombarded the Ice Crystal Giant, cracking its hardened body and scattering shards of ice like rain.
"A futile struggle!"
The Giant roared again, though its voice now carried a faint tremor of weakness.
Acidic rain fell from the storm clouds, its ghostly green droplets corroding the Giant's crystalline body like swarms of ravenous insects, boring deep into its surface and leaving it pocked and scarred as steam rose in plumes.
"Despair! You are nothing before winter!"
The Giant's voice grew weaker still, but its posture remained defiant. It raised its double-bladed axe high, its tip piercing the storm clouds as it prepared to strike.
"Crack—"
First came the thunderclap.
In the next instant, six bolts of lightning, each as thick as a man's arm, converged as if delivered by divine wrath, striking the axe's tip.
Blinding light illuminated the Giant's surroundings for hundreds of meters, its icy body reflecting the electric brilliance.
The Ice Crystal Double Axe was vaporized in the flash, and its right arm shattered, the massive limb plummeting to the ground in a cacophony of fracturing ice.
"No—you cannot kill me!"
"I am the Avatar of Winter!"
The Giant roared again, though its strength had diminished further.
Still, it refused to yield. Even with its right arm and half its shoulder destroyed, it seized an ice shard with its left hand and lunged at the red dragon once more.
Hail poured from the storm clouds, pelting the Giant relentlessly. While this attack from a shared elemental source did little damage, it further marred the once-pristine Ice Crystal Giant, twisting it into a grotesque, crumbling form.
