Chapter 57 - Unlawful behaviour

Three days had passed since the first time that Reed had not trained with Lyn.

She was currently moving through the air, avoiding flying over various objects on the ground while shooting at set targets.

Once she was done, she landed on a raised platform.

'13 seconds.' She announced mentally with a smile on her face. 'That's good time.'

The guns disappeared from her hands as she walked over to the table a few meters to the side.

She removed her gloves and summoned some water to wash her hands.

Then she opened the box that she received yesterday and picked up one of the bars inside it.

She took a bite.

'God these save so much time.' She mentally thanked Reed once again as she took another bite.

'These taste good as well.' She tossed the rest of the bar into her mouth.

She closed the box and walked to start the next part of her training.

She picked up her pace as small knives appeared in her hands.

She reached the start of a series of obstacles and jumped over the first one, her right arm shooting forward as she did so.

The knife almost sunk into the center of its target as she landed.

She sprinted, throwing two more knives as she did, which hit their targets with slightly worse accuracy.

She rolled, somersaulted, jumped, and slid under obstacles as she trained her throwing ability.

Her throws landed further and further from the center as she progressed through the course, due to the way the course was designed.

When she was done, she walked back to start, picking up her projectiles as she mentally calculated her score.

'That brings the total to 17...'

She clicked her tongue.

'That means that the score would be ranked around 8. Not bad, but not good enough.'

She frowned as she recalled how flawlessly Reed had hit the center of every target while going almost twice as fast as her.

'But then again, he does have that trait, projectile mastery, I believe it was.'

She shook her head.

'Shouldn't compare to him.'

She then walked to a relatively open area to start her magic training.

Meanwhile, Reed was busy with something else.

He was sitting on a rooftop, hidden from the sight of a normal person as he watched a few men beat up another man.

He didn't move to help, he just silently watched as they knocked a tooth out of the man's mouth.

The leader who was also watching from the side then told them to stop.

"Alright, that's enough." Hearing his voice, they all stopped and cleared his field of view.

The man with one less tooth than before held his bleeding mouth and looked up at the man walking up to him in fear.

Reed watched calmly as the man was threatened, before being shoved and told to 'get out' before he ran away, still holding his bleeding mouth.

Then after a few small commands, the leader went into the house, and the other dispersed.

Reed got up from his sitting position and started following one of them.

Reed and the unsuspecting victim of his stalking walked for little more than four hundred meters before the man walked into a restaurant, where he picked up a small box, most likely containing his lunch.

Then they walked back a little way before they reached what appeared the man's house.

Reed's eyes glowed underneath his helmet as he watched the man's silhouette as he sat down on a chair next to a table and opened the box, beginning his lunch.

Reed brought out a map and marked down a location on it with a red cross, making it the third marking on the box.

Then he got up from his position and jumped away, going back to the leader's house.

Lyn sat at a small table, with three trays of food in front of her, freshly delivered and still steaming.

She picked up a small piece of meat and tossed it into her mouth.

'The bars are good, but I still want to eat something.'

The bars served their purpose, but Lyn wanted to actually enjoy the act of eating, and since there was no training session after sundown, only some reading, Lyn decided that there would be no problem.

While Lyn was enjoying her meal, Reed was very busy with his current work.

He was currently invisible to the naked eye, with three large boxes floating behind him, jumping from roof to roof as he made his way to the ten-meter-tall city wall, where he brought out a few small circular objects, which he placed on his palms and knees.

He looked at the discs covering his palms as they started to glow, nodded, and placed them on the wall.

They stuck on the wall, and he brought up his knees and stuck them on the wall as well.

The discs on his palms deactivated as he moved them even higher before activating them again.

He moved his hands and legs alternating between them as he climbed the wall.

Suddenly, he stopped, his eyes glowing blue under his helmet.

There were two guards walking on the wall, chatting with each other as they went.

He was close enough to them to hear their voices, but not near enough to make out what they were speaking.

He waited, unmoving until they were far enough before he started climbing again.

The moment he was on top, he removed the discs from his person and brought the boxes to his front.

Then he jumped.

His palms shot out energy before landed, slowing his fall.

Reed broke into a run as he dashed into the forest with boxes in front of him.

Once he was out of sight of the walls, he let out a sigh of relief.

However, he did not slow too much, keeping up a jogging pace as he moved through the forest.

Close to half an hour later, Reed stopped and put the boxes down.

He brought a small remote with only one button on it and pressed the button.

Suddenly the ground in front of him opened up, revealing a stairway barely wide enough for a man to fit through.

Reed raised his hand and rotated it, causing the boxes to follow the hand's movements and turn sideways, thin enough to fit in the passage.

He walked into the passage with the boxes following.

A moment later, the opening closed, hiding its insides.

Reed walked through the pitch-black passage with no problem.

A few seconds later, he reached a room and flicked a switch embedded in the wall.

The room flared to life as the lights activated, and the sound of whirring machinery was heard.

Reed brought out another remote, this one with a green button, and pressed the button, causing the sounds of machinery to stop.

The room seemed bare, but only Reed knew what it hid.

There were three doors to proceed, and Reed walked to the furthest one, directly opposite the entrance.

He opened it and entered a room that looked like it was out of a sci-fi movie set. The only things that seemed out of place were the four turrets, one in each corner of the room.

Reed ignored the giant screen and activating computer and walked to the only other door.

He entered a room that looked like a luxury apartment, apart from the lack of windows.

The room had five large beds, along with two couches, a bookshelf, two fully stocked refrigerators, and a small kitchen area. There was also a door that led to the bathroom.

The door closed behind him, as he set the boxes down in the center of the room.

The lids detached and fell to the ground, revealing the three men who had been inside the box, unconscious, gagged, and bound.
