Raelynn lay in bed, staring at the ceiling, her eyes heavy but her mind restless. She had tried to sleep—closed her eyes, counted her breaths, even turned over multiple times to find a comfortable position—but the moment stillness settled in, her thoughts swirled into a storm she couldn't silence.
The nightmare hadn't returned since Elion stayed by her side. But that didn't mean the fear had vanished. It lingered in the corners of her mind, waiting for a moment of weakness to drag her under again.
She let out a soft sigh, turning onto her side and curling up slightly. Her hands clutched the blanket close to her chest, but the warmth did little to ease the cold creeping into her heart.
It was either a coincidence that her nightmares hadn't returned since Elion stayed… or Elion was some kind of human dreamcatcher.
