I rewrote all chapter before this, so please check it out.
..........
The room was white and devoid any visible equipment apart from the white bed that sat at the centre of the room and various white lights that made the room look like an empty white space. The 14 year old Daniel laid on the bed, his brows furrowed as he dreamt of a nightmare.
A part of the wall opened, revealing a man dressed in a lab coat walking with a file in his hands. As if on queue, Daniel woke up with a jolt, his breathing, haggard.
He hastily scanned the entire room, warily. All he could see was empty white space. Confused, he turned to the only other person with him.
"Where's Audrey?" He asked as he tried to get up from the bed, but he was barely able to move his legs.
"Stop moving," the scientist commanded, his tone firm but not unkind. "Your body is in no condition to overexert itself. Push too hard, and you'll find yourself slipping right back into a coma."
He froze, disbelief etched into every feature. For how long had he been asleep? His voice cracked as he demanded answers
"How long have I been asleep? And what happened to Audrey?!" He asked, once more.
The scientist sighed and walked towards Daniel.
"You've only been asleep for about 2 weeks and about Audrey…" His voice faltered, retreating into a hollow pause. Then, with quiet finality, he said, "She's dead."
Suddenly, all sounds were drowned out and a constant ringing kept on assaulting his ears. Audrey was dead?
'No, no, no. That can't be possible.'
A part of him wanted to reject the man's claim and yell at him for lying and the other side knew that there was a possibility that she could be dead.
Images from his last memory flashed like jagged shards, a blade slicing through his hand, Audrey's terror-stricken face frozen in time.
"It's a lie." He gritted his teeth, anger over taking his grief . "How dare you say that Audrey is dead! Take me to her, now!"
He forcefully moved his legs to the side of the bed but before he could even place them on the ground, a screen appeared in front of him.
The camera was placed in an angle where he could clearly see the long, sterile hallway and 2 teenagers standing together. In the centre of the frame, he and Audrey stood with a horrified expression on their faces.
The duo turned around and ran, as if their lives depended on it, with him looking behind. He suddenly pushed Audrey aside and something like a blue laser, suddenly shot forward, slicing Daniel's hand in half.
He turned to look at his left arm and saw that it was still intact. He returned his attention back to the footage.
Audrey's eyes widened from a mixture of shock and fear. She looked at the open wound on Daniel's hand and looked back at the hand in her hand.
His eyes turned white and he grabbed onto Audrey's hair and started pulling her towards the beast.
"Daniel, what are you doing?!" She screamed, trashing wildly and even tried clawing at his hand, but nothing worked.
"Daniel, please don't! PLEASE, DANIEL!" She cried but Daniel simply threw her forward.
He moved his arm up, fingers curled,as though he was clutching an invisible neck. Audrey gasped, choking and coughing as she was lifted up into the air.
"NO!!!" Anders shouted from one of the various opened doors.
Not even caring about the sudden scream, Daniel turned his hand sharply. A sickening sound of bones breaking reverberated across the hallway. There was a sudden white blast and the recording went dark.
"..."
Daniel became numb. His brain failed to process everything and simply shut down.
"Luckily, a guard was able to kill the beast." the scientist said, his voice devoid of emotion. "Many lives were saved."
Receiving no reply from Daniel, the man smiled. He pressed a button on the remote behind the files. Some kind of white liquid flowed through a tube connected to Daniel's hand.
He didn't even notice the liquid entering his body, as his eyelids grew heavy and slipped into another coma.
...…
Weeks passed in a haze. Daniel woke briefly once a week, but his mind remained numb, trapped in a state of semi-consciousness. Various tubes were attached to his body, making him look like an experiment. Well, that's because he was an experiment.
The 'doctor' from before would visit moments before Daniel would wake up. He'd take a look and smile, devilishly, before walking back out.
One day, the routine changed. The 'doctor' came in and did something different. He removed the tubes connected to Daniel's body and sat him up right.
"All this time and you weren't even awakened." He sneered. His gaze was cold and filled with disdain.
"Such a waste of material. You are free to go. Guards!" He called out and 2 guards walked into the room, each holding one of Daniel's hands.
They blindfolded him, dragged him out of the facility and tossed him into a passing garbage truck.
The truck rumbled on, oblivious to the boy discarded within. It came to a stop and offloaded the waste in a warehouse before driving away.
Daniel lay motionless atop the pile of trash, the stench suffocating. From the corner of his eye, he spotted a familiar school uniform with a toy gorilla attached to the chest pocket. His heart stirred for the first time in weeks
His eyes seemed to be filled with hope. Hope because the uniform belonged to Audrey!
Hope flickered in his chest. He scrambled to his feet, reaching for the cloth, but froze. The right side was drenched in blood and the sleeves were torn.
"..."
A tear fell, followed by another, until they flowed like the ocean. How could his life change so fast? One moment it was all fun and the other, your best friend died by your hands.
He couldn't shake of the guilt that he was the one responsible for her death. And so he cried. Even as the night sky covered the world like a veil he still cried.
...
[Memories Replayed]
Dom collapsed to his knees, tears streaming down his face. The flood of foreign memories and emotions threatened to shatter his mind. The trauma endured by both Daniel and Anders was overwhelming, enough to scar anyone deeply, talk less of him who hadn't even suffered any form of trauma apart from excessive training.
[Healing Host]
As if water was dumped over his head, he felt himself cool down. The damage to his head was still there, but lessened enough for him to think clearly. He looked around. Dead bodies were scattered around him and an expression of extreme horror was all over the dead and decapitated heads.
"What have I done?"
