Chapter 211 - Rules and Discipline

Alex continued with the announcements. "Representative of Muggle Studies: Jenny Moria." "Care of Magical Creatures: Sixth-year Esther Lund." "Divination representative: Sixth-year Sophia Cech."

He turned his gaze to another student. "And for Arithmetic and Divination: Louis Ollerton. Frankly, no one else in the academy matches your proficiency in this two subject, so I'm appointing you as the representative for both. Fortunately, these are electives, so the workload won't be overwhelming."

Louis gave a confident nod, reassured by Alex's reasoning. He had no doubts about his abilities compared to others who had taken the course. Finally, Alex straightened up and made his own declaration. "As for the representatives of Defense Against the Dark Arts and Ancient Runes, that would be me. I'll personally guide everyone in these two areas."

With that, the list of department representatives was finalized. For the twelve courses, seven representatives were chosen, along with fourteen team leaders. Among them, three people, including Alex, held dual roles.

These individuals stood at the front, their names magically appearing on the large display for everyone to see. The little wizards in the audience whispered to one another as they took note of the names. Alex signaled for silence and continued, transitioning to the next phase of his speech.

"That covers the organizational structure for the academy. Now, let's move on to the second part: establishing strict discipline guidelines." He flicked his wand, and the names on the screen shrank into the corner, replaced by bold, glowing words in the center: Disciplinary Guidelines. "Starting today, Slytherin will adhere to a set of rules divided into three main principles and four detailed regulations."

He began to outline the principles, his voice steady and commanding.

"Principle one: Follow orders in all situations.

Principle two: Treat the honor of Slytherin as your personal responsibility.

Principle three: Maintain a proper attitude, value solidarity, friendship, and mutual respect."

The screen shifted, displaying the detailed rules, and Alex went on.

The four detailed regulations are as follows:

Attendance discipline.

Dormitory and personal discipline.

Daily discipline.

A reward and punishment system."

The students stared wide-eyed at the screen. Many had never encountered such an extensive list of rules before, and it was overwhelming. Alex pressed forward, unfazed by their reactions. "Attendance discipline is simple. Be on time for all classes, meetings, and study sessions. No excuses. One lazy action leads to another, so I'll be strict about this."

"Dormitory discipline means your living spaces, beds, desks, and floors, must be tidy. While house-elves will handle the laundry, you are responsible for making your beds at least presentable." He muttered under his breath, "At least I'm not asking for military corners."

"Clothing should be proper. Academic uniforms are mandatory during non-break hours. Keep them neat and wrinkle-free. Collars folded correctly, shirts tucked in. No unbuttoned jackets, rolled sleeves, or crooked ties. The school badge must be visible at all times. When dining, avoid making noise, or causing disturbances. Keep your tables clean."

Alex paused, letting the rules sink in before continuing. "Daily discipline applies outside class hours. Follow school rules at all times, especially when professors or staff are watching. Greet staff respectfully, including Filch and Hagrid. Walk with proper posture, and avoid running around like first-years fresh off the train."

The list of rules seemed endless, and the murmurs among the students grew louder. Some exchanged uneasy glances. Others simply looked resigned. "For internal grades, we'll use a points system. Each grade starts with a full score of 100 points. Rewards are given for exceptional performance, while points deducted will result in penalties. And let me assure you," Alex added with a sinister grin, "these punishments won't involve something as boring as writing lines or scrubbing floors. You won't want to experience them, trust me."

The sharp glint in his eye sent shivers down everyone's spines. Many instinctively swallowed, nervous about what those punishments might entail.

With another wave of his wand, a stack of booklets appeared in midair, each magically flying into the hands of the students with precision. "This is the academy manual I've compiled. It contains all the rules in detail. Keep it with you and follow it closely. I'll be watching."

The young wizards flipped through the booklet casually at first, but their expressions quickly grew serious. The content was far more detailed than Alex's explanation, every aspect of their daily lives was covered, from punctuality to the way they should carry themselves in the corridors.

Louis, a prefect, frowned as he scanned the pages. "Isn't this a bit over the top? I get being punctual and avoiding point deductions, but this... It says we can't talk while eating and even dictates how many people can walk beside us? Isn't that too strict?" he asked, unable to hide his concern.

Alex's expression darkened, his voice cutting through the murmurs. "Strict? You think this is strict?" His tone rose, commanding attention. "You're not just students. You are Slytherins! Slytherins value honor above all else and aim for victory at any cost. If all you care about is scraping by and winning a House Cup, then you've misunderstood what it means to belong to this House."

He stepped forward, extending his right hand before clenching it into a fist. "What I demand from you is total excellence. I want you to be Slytherins who embody elegance, composure, and superiority, victory achieved effortlessly and without flaws. What I demand is total domination. No weak points. No exceptions."

The room fell into an uneasy silence. Alex's ambition was palpable, colder than a harsh winter wind, and it sent shivers down their spines. Louis swallowed hard, realizing his back was drenched with sweat. He dared not argue further and lowered his head silently. Alex surveyed the room, his gaze sharp and unyielding. "The rules I've laid out are not negotiable. From the moment you entered this common room, you committed to these standards. There's no talk of becoming a dragon or a worm under my leadership. You will succeed, and you will meet my expectations… No matter what."

Sensing their unease, Alex shifted his tone slightly, though it lost none of its authority. "Now, let's move on to the real agenda. We've discussed the rules and structure; next, we address what I call 'Two Sessions and One Exam.'" He began pacing as he explained.

"The 'Two Sessions' are the weekly and monthly meetings. The weekly meeting will be held every Saturday at 7 PM sharp. Attendance is mandatory. No excuses. No exceptions. The monthly meeting will be on the last Sunday of each month, also at 7 PM. It will coincide with that week's regular meeting.

These meetings are where I'll summarize your point gains and losses, academic progress, and disciplinary issues. Rewards will be given to those who excel, and punishments will be handed out to those who fall short."

Alex paused, letting the weight of his words settle before continuing. "As for the 'One Exam,' this is a full-subject monthly test. It will take place the day before the monthly meeting, on Saturday, and will last the entire day. Results will be announced during the Sunday meeting."

He scanned the room, his voice firm. "You can struggle at first, but regression will not be tolerated. Those who fall behind will lose all their free time over the weekend to attend remedial lessons until they catch up."
