Time passed. Jax nearly yawned himself to sleep, swaying side to side despite hanging upside down. He was only jolted awake when a sudden rumble echoed from the skeletal soldiers, who thudded their sickles to the ground and shouted incoherently.
Eros, still hidden behind the pillar, also noticed the sudden stir among the guards. His eyes went straight to the two slabs placed side by side.
The wind inside the odeum picked up sharply as black smoke began to emerge from the gap between the slabs. The smoke swirled like a deep void, pulling everything, including the dust within the hall, into its center.
Gideon and the crew swayed in the wind, their bodies dragged slightly toward the void. But before they could be sucked in, the wind abruptly ceased. From the darkness between the slabs, a hooded figure emerged, its presence dark and ominous.
Eros frowned, his hand tightening around the pillar as he studied the figure.
