Mu Wei didn't know what was happening anymore. Being an older brother wasn't his plan when he first joined, but fate had other plans.
As the two headed towards the direction of the quest, Mu Wei felt a pang of nostalgia hitting him. He rarely feels such an overwhelming nostalgia overcome him but perhaps it's the unsettledness creeping in him - something bad is coming. Or, maybe Lu Yi just reminds him of his juniors in his world.
Ah, he really did miss it. It's been so long now but Mu Wei still has moments where he wishes to return or at least hopes to return.
As the two walked, the blinding brightness of the sun hits the two of them. The white-haired man squints a little from the uncomfortable light but is mostly comfortable. This was probably one of the few moments in this world that he was in peace. Beside him, Lu Yi hummed a tune happily and seemed to be in high spirits.
Mu Wei looks at him with a hint of envy on how carefree & optimistic he was. Still, he also held a lot of respect with how positive he was sometimes. Albeit they've only met a few days ago.
As the two came to a halt, they both stare at the quest board in front of them. It was not too big nor small, just the perfect size to not feel overwhelmed staring at the number of quests.
Mu Wei took a few seconds to glance over them before turning his gaze to Lu Yi, "So which one did you say we were going to do again?"
"I wanted to do the quest where you had to train in the training room for 3 hours. It was probably the simplest one in the quest board; I couldn't understand the other quests." The teenager avoided gazing back, feeling a little guilty for not choosing a more interesting quest.
He fiddled with his hands nervously and Mu Wei could almost see the word "Nervous" in his face. The white-haired man's face smiled for a brief moment of amusement before Mu Wei replied, "Alright, no objections. Shall we go?"
Looking at the weather outside, it seemed like it's still 9 or 10 am in the morning. Mu Wei long lost track of time with the recent events occurring. He inwardly sighed to himself as his thoughts track back to the guild master.
'That asshole, every time I think of him it always puts me in a strange mood. I can't tell if I'm scared of him or I'm angry at him. Maybe both.' Mu Wei could feel a vein pop in his forehead but calmed himself down quickly.
However, at this moment, Mu Wei suddenly made a mental note to himself to avoid that man as much as possible. Forget about the possible alliance between the two, he might die before he could even utter a question about it.
Suddenly, Mu Wei felt like the sunlight was too lukewarm as he shivered involuntarily. He was taken out of his trance as Lu Yi nodded his head profusely, "Right, we better get going before we lose our spots in the training rooms."
Mu Wei hummed approvingly and two set off to their quest. Mu Wei silently hoped that he wouldn't meet that eerie man again. He was way too unpredictable to even read.
Passing by many trainees along the way, their intruding eyes kept staring at Mu Wei that it felt like it would burn a hole in his face. He was used to these kinds of stares, but you never really fully get comfortable with it.
He had plenty of experiences before as an actor and this was plenty of times better than some encounters of his. Most of them were... Interesting to say.
After a sharp turn at the end of a hallway, they've reached the training rooms. Although Mu Wei already knew the guild wasn't something to be underestimated, he was still in awe.
The door in front of them were two very large doors that required more force than normal needed to be moved. It was huge. Mu Wei was pretty sure that this was probably a door used in fairy tale novels where the main character runs through it dramatically to arrive late at a ball.
Except, in this case, it would be running into a literal war zone with more safety provided. At least in here, people won't be murdering each other 24/7 but training rooms here are way different in his world.
As Lu Yi pulls both doors with extremely strong force, the doors suddenly creak a little as the light from the inside becomes almost blinding. It takes Mu Wei's eyes a second to adjust to this uncomfortable lighting before everything becomes clear.
'Holy crap. What kind of training room is this huge? This is the widest room I've ever seen.'
If Mu Wei wasn't so good at controlling his facial expressions, his mouth would've opened agape at the sight. It was a very large cube-like room that had plenty of people in it. Some sparring, some using abilities, and some just doing exercises or using the gym equipment.
Despite a lot of people being in one room, this room wasn't just ordinary. It was huge. Almost bigger than life itself.
As he looks over to his side, he found that Lu Yi's jaw was dropped, and he was in a state of shock. He was a little happy that he wasn't the only one that showed shock. Although the people inside didn't seem to appreciate their surroundings. Most likely too busy focusing on training.
After all, one second of distraction in battle could cost you your life. If not yours, then another person. Whether it's your enemy or friend, you can always guarantee that not everyone can survive in a battle.
It was especially dangerous in gates where hunters would have to risk their lives every time they entered. This is probably why they're a respected job to take on.
As the two take a step inside the training room, a gust of wind went past them. Along with a knife that travelled at lightning speed. However, the knife was soon caught by a figure behind them.
'Well shit. Forget what I said about the training rooms being safer than literal war zones. They're basically the same thing.'
Mu Wei pursed his tight lips in a straight line and curled his palm into a fist to stop it from shivering - a sign of weakness. That's never a good thing to show to people, especially in this world.
As the two whirled their heads behind them, Mu Wei's breath was suddenly caught - as if it was sucked out of him. His eyes widened and he could've sworn his eyes almost popped out of his sockets.
'Are you fucking kidding me?' Was the first thing Mu Wei said as he stared at Lu Beiyi with intensity. So intense that if eyes could kill, he was sure he had stabbed him 100 times already.
'This is fucking torture.'
